Today marks Ash Wednesday, a time of reflection, humility, and remembrance. ✝️

It reminds us of the fragile beauty of life and the importance of living with intention, compassion, and faith. As we begin this season of reflection, may we find comfort in hope, renewal, and the promise of grace.

We are honored to walk beside families during moments of remembrance and reflection. May today bring you peace and a renewed sense of purpose.

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day 🤍

A small gesture—a kind word, a helping hand, or a moment of compassion—can mean more than we realize. Kindness has a way of spreading hope and comfort, especially to those who may be carrying heavy hearts.

We see every day how simple acts of kindness can bring peace and healing. Today, we encourage you to pass it on and share a little kindness with someone who may need it.

Kristen L. (Maines) Meyer

Kristen L. (Maines) Meyer, 46, fell into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday February 8th, 2026 at home in Pine City, NY after a long 7-year battle with breast cancer.

Kristen is survived by her parents Robert “Mike” and Barbara (Brown) Maines of Pine City, NY and her sister Kelly, with fiancé Jason of Beaver Falls PA, and their children Marcus, Nathaniel, Olivia, Lilly, and Colton, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kristen retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility in 2019 after almost 15 years of service as a CNA. She had a special calling to care for the sick and elderly, and became close to those who she took care of. When one of her residents passed away she always attended the services.

Kristen always dreamed of owning a horse growing up and her dream was realized when her horse Clark came into her life. She participated in several riding competitions with him over the last few years winning several awards and ribbons. Clark was her saving grace and her safe place when things got rough with treatment, side effects, and disappointments when treatments failed.

Her constant and loyal companion Luke, her Labrador retriever, came into her life in 2023. They went everywhere together and Luke especially looked forward to his weekly trips to McDonald's for french fries. He was fiercely loyal and devoted to her and when treatments kept her down for days he never left her side.

Kristen enjoyed photography, tending to her plants, rummaging through antique stores and crafts fairs, fishing with her dad, and of course her first love of horseback riding.

Kristen was a very sweet, loving, caring and forgiving young lady and she never lost that even towards the end of her life.

Her parents would like to express their gratitude to the doctors RN’s, NP’s, social workers, and the rest of the staff at the Falck Cancer Center and UR of Rochester for taking such good care of her over the last 7 years and will forever be grateful for their kindness and compassion.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Wellsburg Community Church, 3662 Front St. Wellsburg, NY 14894. The memorial service to honor Kristen’s life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 21st at the church. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In Kristen’s honor donations may be made to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Ave, Elmira, New York 14905.

Today is National Donor Day, a time to recognize the incredible impact of organ, tissue, and blood donation. đź’™

Becoming an organ donor is a powerful act of generosity, one that can save lives, restore health, and offer hope to families during some of their most difficult moments. A single decision can leave a lasting legacy of compassion and care.

We believe in honoring lives in ways that reflect love, service, and humanity. Today, we pause to acknowledge donors and their families, whose selfless choices continue to make a difference far beyond one lifetime.

As the sun sets, we pause to remember those who remain forever in our hearts. 🌅🕊️

This sunset is shared in loving memory of a cherished life. A quiet moment to reflect, remember, and honor the love that never fades. May its warmth bring comfort, peace, and a sense of closeness to those you miss today.

We are honored to help families remember and celebrate the lives of those they love. If you’re remembering someone special this evening, please know you’re not alone.
