“When a police officer is killed, it’s not an agency that loses an officer, it’s an entire nation.”
– Chris Cosgriff, ODMP Founder
We wholeheartedly agree with this powerful truth. Every officer lost in the line of duty leaves an immeasurable void in our communities, our profession, and our nation.

Making the choice to seek therapy, whether for you or your child, requires an enormous amount of courage. It shows a desire for change. Dena is devoted to inspiring hope and growth so her clients may become mindful and make choices toward a more successful life.
Dena is a Licensed Professional Counselor, providing individual and family therapy to all ages in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. Her specialties as a counselor include: public servants/veterans, athletes, trauma in all ages of people, grief, men’s issues, behavioral changes/challenges, parenting, conflict resolution, forgiveness, anxiety, and defining purpose.
Dena retired from a twenty-three year career in law enforcement, spending the last ten years in the crimes against children unit. She understands the rewards, demands, and stress of being a public servant. She has chosen to help others in the same capacity. Through her experiences with her daughter, she has gained an understanding that the children of public servants and veterans may be affected by their parents’ chosen profession. Often these children may develop issues or concerns resulting in needing therapy in a safe place from someone that their parents trust.
Dena competed on a national level showing horses. She was a devoted athlete who experienced the joy of watching her daughter become an athlete as well. Her daughter started playing softball at the age of three, continued to play through high school and select ball, and experienced the college recruiting process to play college ball. The demands and stress of being an athlete can take its toll. Dena can help you or your athlete assess the aspects of your life and develop strategies to optimize performance on and off the field.
During her tenure as a crimes against children detective, Dena has helped thousands of children and their families through some of the worst types of trauma imaginable. She has a passion for helping these children and their protective care givers. She utilizes researched based approaches to help them overcome the trauma and go on to lead successful lives. Dena understands the shock, sorrow, betrayal, and guilt a child or parent feels when someone they trusted or stranger harms a child for incomprehensible reasons.
It is Dena’s passion is to help others live more fulfilling, healthy lives. She believes that through every difficulty we experience, is an opportunity to grow. Challenges allow us to figure out who we are and to develop strengths we often did not know we possessed. Often when we encounter a trial, we turn away from it. To be more effective, we must orient ourselves and face reality. Dena can help you discover your strengths and develop confidence within yourself to take on the dynamic process of life—trying, succeeding, failing, and trying again.
Dena also assists in operating Walter Cattle & Nursery, a commercial and registered Angus and Simmental outfit located in Calvin, Oklahoma.
