How long have you been in business?
Myers Funeral Home was founded by Howard Frank Myers. Howard came to Wellsville on March 1, 1958 as an assistant to Keeling B. Wells. After the death of K.B. Wells, in 1960, Howard and Dorotha purchased the Wells funeral home on June 17, 1960. After graduating from mortuary school, Howard’s son Kent completed his apprenticeship and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Howard and Kent worked together for several years, until the unexpected death of Howard. After the death of Howard Myers, the funeral home was incorporated under the name of Myers Funeral Home, Inc. On December 1, 1986 that Kent and his wife, Jane, became sole owners of Myers Funeral Home, Inc. In 2021 with the retirement of Jane Myers, the funeral home was purchased by Todd Yager of Mexico.
Staff members include Funeral Directors David Pickering and Bethany Collins, and Funeral Assistant Noel Schafer.
Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville is one of five funeral homes owned by Todd Yager. The other four are, Myers Funeral Home in Middletown, Arnold Funeral Home and Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico, and Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. We feel having multiple locations benefits the families we serve. We are able to combine and share staff and resources to make sure we meet the needs of each family that calls upon us. Todd feels strongly that these small communities deserve to have their local funeral home available to their family as they have been for generations.
Chamber member since- 2023
What does your business do and who do you serve?
When a loved one passes, families are often faced with grief, shock, and uncertainty. In these moments, a funeral home serves as more than a place for final arrangements; it becomes a source of guidance, care, and support.
We help families navigate one of life’s most difficult experiences by handling both the emotional and practical details that follow a death. From the first phone call, we work to ease the burden on families, offering clear information and compassionate assistance when it is needed most.
One of the most important roles of a funeral home is the dignified care of the deceased. We ensure that loved ones are treated with respect at every step, whether families choose burial or cremation. This care allows families peace of mind, knowing their loved one is being looked after with professionalism and compassion.
We also assist in planning meaningful services that reflect the life, values, and wishes of the person who has passed. Whether a family prefers a traditional funeral, a memorial service, or a small private gathering, we help coordinate every detail so families can focus on remembering and honoring their loved one.
Beyond the service itself, we manage many necessary but often overwhelming administrative tasks. These may include, but are certainly not limited to: obtaining death certificates, filing permits, coordinating with cemeteries or crematories, and helping families notify government agencies or insurance providers. Handling these details helps reduce stress during an already challenging time.
Our purpose is simple but profound: to care for people when they are most vulnerable. Through compassion, professionalism, and thoughtful guidance, we help families honor life, say goodbye, and take the first steps toward healing.
Why did you choose to do business in our community?
The decision to do business in this community was driven by a deep respect for the people who live here and a belief in the strength of local connections.
Having the funeral home in the community allows us to provide a much-needed service to families who have depended on Myers Funeral Home for generations, while continuing the legacy created by the Myers family.
Choosing to do business here was not just a professional decision; it was a personal one. We are grateful to this community and remain dedicated to serving it with integrity, care, and respect for years to come.
How does your business support and give back to the community?
One of the ways the funeral home supports Wellsville is by contributing to the community and school programs and initiatives.
Honoring service and sacrifice is another meaningful focus. This year, the funeral home was proud to give to Wellsville’s first annual Wreaths Across America event. Supporting this inaugural event was a way to honor local veterans, recognize their families, and help establish a tradition of remembrance within the community.
What advice would you give to other businesses about getting involved?
As a business rooted in Wellsville, we have learned that success here is not measured solely by growth or numbers, but by relationships, trust, and community involvement. For businesses considering becoming more engaged in Wellsville, the most important advice we can offer is simple: show up, listen, and care
