🦌We have lots of winding roads in addition to our major highways and deer do not discriminate where they roam! Most deer-related crashes occur between October and December, typically around sunrise or sunset, when deer are most active while feeding. These months mark deer mating season, known as the rut, when the animals are more active, more aggressive and more likely to cross roadways.
🚗Be alert and use extra caution when driving. If you see one deer, there are likely others nearby. Use your horn if needed and stop if it’s safe to do so, but avoid swerving. If you are involved in an animal-related crash, pull safely to the side of the road, call 911, and do not approach the animal.
