Another successful STC Level 1 Nursing Student Clinical Rotation! 💙

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to highlight the importance of end-of-life and palliative care with the next generation of nurses. Through our education program, students gain a deeper understanding of compassionate care, the power of empathy in healthcare, and the responsibility we all share in supporting individuals and families during their most vulnerable moments.

It is always an honor to help shape future healthcare professionals who will lead with both knowledge and heart. Thank you to our amazing students for your dedication and willingness to learn. 🩺✨

📅 Date: Thursday, February 19
⏰ Time: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

“The Weight of Doing What’s Right: The Realities of Working as a Health Professional.”

We hope you can join us for this meaningful and insightful discussion. A light lunch will be provided. Attendees will earn 1 CEU credit hour.

Dr. Rebecca Cole is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor with over a decade of experience in community mental health and crisis intervention. Her professional background includes work on co-response teams, which helped shape her current research focus.

Dr. Cole’s scholarship examines structural and psychosocial barriers to well-being—such as victimization, loneliness, trust, and literacy—through mixed-methods research with a strong qualitative emphasis. Her recent work includes an NIH-funded pilot study on digital literacy and cancer prevention among agricultural workers, as well as research on fraud exposure among dementia caregivers. Guided by a critical theory lens, her work centers on power awareness, advocacy, and social justice, with a long-term goal of dismantling oppressive systems and promoting community well-being.
