We have created such a beautiful, safe space to support one another through our grief journeys. This month’s activity, junk journaling, was truly an amazing and creative way for us to honor those we love.🤍

We welcome anyone who is ready to begin their healing journey and is looking for a group where they feel heard and supported.🫂❤️

Before the month comes to a close, we’d like to say Happy Social Worker Appreciation Month! It’s important to recognize the strength, compassion, and dedication of social workers, and to appreciate the impact they make in creating a better world. We are truly blessed to have some of the very best social workers generously volunteer their time in support of our home. 💛

When the world believed nothing more could be done for people who were dying, Dame Cicely Saunders believed something different:

That every person deserves dignity, comfort, and compassion until their very last moment.

Her courage and vision started the modern hospice movement and changed how the world cares for those at the end of life. Her words still echo today:
“You matter because you are you. You matter to the last moment of your life.”

One person’s compassion can change millions of lives. ❤️

Another success rotation with our STC Level 1 nursing students! 🩵

Through our home's education program, we have the privilege of teaching future health professionals about the importance of compassionate end of life care. Students learn about all the vital individuals who make up a hospice team and how each person plays a role in supporting patients during life's most sensitive moments. 🫂

A heartfelt thank you to Amedisys and their social worker, Jean Peña, for sharing their time and expertise with our students. Their commitment to education is unwavering, and we are truly appreciative of their continued support in helping prepare the next generation of compassionate caregivers.

You're invited to our RGV Death Cafe! 🌷☕

Join us this month for sweet bread, coffee, and meaningful conversation about death, dying, and everything in between. While death can feel scary, talking about it helps us plan for the future and live more fully today.

The RGV Death Cafe is a group led discussion about death over coffee and cake. This is not a support group or a counseling session. It's a relaxed, informal space to ask questions, share stories, and explore what death and dying can teach us about life.

The Aurora House Foundation is truly grateful and honored to be chosen as a grant recipient. This support means so much to our mission and to the families we serve each day. As we begin 2026, we are thankful to stand alongside Knapp Community Care Foundation and other dedicated organizations that share a commitment to caring for our community. Through this partnership, we are able to continue bringing comfort, compassion, and meaningful support where it is needed most. We look forward to a year filled with hope, collaboration, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference together.
