HFS is the only nonprofit birth center and women's health clinic in the RGV with services rendered by Certified Nurse Midwives! Holy Family Services is the longest licensed free-standing birth center in Texas! Founded in 1983 by four Catholic sisters, we strive to uphold their mission by continuing to provide safe and affordable family-centered maternity care to families in the Rio Grande Valley.

Here at Holy Family, full-scope prenatal care, labor/delivery, water birth, postpartum and newborn care is provided by Certified-Nurse Midwives, in addition to general well-woman care and exams. Flexible payment plans are available. CASH, MEDICAID/CHIPS, AND MOST PRIVATE INSURANCES ACCEPTED! Even if we are "out-of-network" we can work with your insurance to make an exception for "in-network" care. Please call our office for more information.

For over 40 years, Holy Family Services, Inc - Birth Center has been part of thousands of life-changing moments welcoming babies, supporting mothers, and walking alongside families in some of their most important seasons.

Now, we want to tell those stories. 💛

Our goal is simple:
Show our community the real impact Holy Family has had through YOUR voice.

Every person deserves compassionate care...but not every family can afford it.

For more than 42 years, Holy Family Services, Inc - Birth Center has welcomed over 8,300 babies into the world with safe, midwife-led care.

But here’s the reality:
• 55–65% of the families we serve rely on Medicaid
• Medicaid reimburses far below the true cost of care
• 20% of families are uninsured

That gap doesn’t go away...it’s covered by people who choose to give.

Through the Holy Family Birth Circle, your monthly gift helps provide:
• Prenatal care, safe births, and postpartum support
• Lactation support and childbirth education
• Centering Pregnancy group care
• Mobile clinic services bringing care to colonias
• Food pantry support for families in need
• Car seat inspections and community wellness programs

💛 What your gift can do:
• $25/month → Helps support our food pantry and families facing food insecurity
• $50/month → Supports well-woman and prenatal care
• $100/month → Helps fund our mobile clinic, bringing care directly to underserved communities

This is how we make sure a mother is supported, a baby is born safely, and a family is cared for, regardless of what they can afford.

We’re stepping into a new chapter at Holy Family Services, Inc - Birth Center following a recent leadership transition.

We are grateful to Sandra De La Cruz Yarrison for her time, leadership, and contributions to our organization, and we wish her the very best in what’s ahead.

As we move forward, our Board of Directors is working closely with our dedicated staff and community partners to ensure a thoughtful and steady transition in leadership. Our commitment to providing compassionate, midwife-led care for families across the Rio Grande Valley remains unchanged.

For over 40 years, Holy Family has been a place of support, dignity, and care for thousands of families, and that mission continues.

Our Story

Holy Family Services is the longest licensed free-standing birth center in Texas! Founded in 1983 by four Catholic sisters, we strive to uphold their mission by continuing to provide safe and affordable family-centered maternity care to families in the Rio Grande Valley. Here at Holy Family, full-scope prenatal care, labor/delivery, water birth, postpartum and newborn care is provided by Certified-Nurse Midwives, in addition to general well-woman care and gynecologic exams.

We promote physiologic labor that is family-centered and prioritizes the mother-baby dyad. We encouraged freedom of movement with non - “tethered” labor, oral intake during labor, and minimize separation of the infant and mother after delivery.
