BHWC is celebrating its first surgical procedure performed with our newest, minimally-invasive robot!

Having recently performed our 500th robotic surgery, the addition of this new tool enables our surgeons to meet demand while offering the most advanced technology to treat patients in need of general, urological and gynecological surgical care.

It was pleasure to visit the beautiful Saint Leo University campus as part of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of South Florida lecture series. BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Nayee and emergency room physician Dr. Brian Batt were invited to give the keynote address, sharing details of the hospital's emphasis on patient-centered care. Dr. Omer is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and joins the BayCare Medical Group practice at 37852 Medical Arts Court, Unit A in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he sees patients age 18 and older. Dr. Omer specializes in evaluating and managing complex coronary artery disease, cardiac stress testing, echocardiography and catheter-based treatment of peripheral arterial disease. He builds strong long-term relationships with patients by listening carefully, understanding their individual goals and maintaining open communication. Dr. Omer emphasizes patient education to support healthier, more informed lives and offers guidance about healthier living.

Dr. Omer earned a medical degree from Assiut University School of Medicine in Assiut, Egypt. Dr. Omer completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri, and fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. He held an academic appointment as an assistant professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota, and served as a consultant in the Mayo Clinic Department of Cardiovascular Medicine.

As the director of patient services at BHWC, Beth Wells has proudly championed members of our nursing team who have earned the prestigious DAISY award, which recognizes excellence in nursing care. Recently, the tables were turned, however, as Beth was surprised with a DAISY award of her own.

A nurse by trade, Beth has been BHWC’s top nursing administrator since opening our doors in 2023. As someone dedicated to compassionate care, who is known for her clinical expertise and thoughtful leadership, Beth leads by example.

Her nominator wrote, “Beth has this remarkable gift for balancing excellence with empathy. She pushes for the highest standards in patient care while never losing sight of the people behind the work. She listens, she teaches, and she trusts her team to rise. Even in the busiest moments, she takes the time to offer thoughtful advice, to help troubleshoot, or to simply check in and ask, “How are you holding up?” Because of Beth, I’ve learned how to lead with integrity and heart—how to move through challenges without losing the human side of leadership.”
