NO SCHOOL - MONDAY, MARCH 16 for the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District.

Due to the Blizzard Warning issued by the U.S. National Weather Service, in effect until Monday, March 16 at 4pm, all WAWM schools, programs, and buildings, as well as WAWM Recreation & Community Services programs, will be CLOSED on Monday, March 16. All activities and events are also canceled. This also includes the Fitness Center, located at 1300 S. 109th Street, and the Indoor Track, located at 2450 S. 68th Street.

The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our top priority. Please stay safe and warm.

March is National Nutrition Month, and we want to take a moment to give a big thank you to Chef Steve for all that he does for our RAD participants!

Chef Steve spends time with our group helping us explore new foods, learn recipes, practice kitchen skills, and build confidence in the kitchen. Our participants love the opportunity to cook, try new things, enjoy healthy meals and improve our skills in the kitchen!

We are grateful for the time, patience, and knowledge Chef Steve shares with our group. Experiences like this help our participants continue learning new skills and growing in ways that support independence and everyday life.

Thank you, Chef Steve, for being such an important part of our RAD family and community! You help make us RAD!💙

This morning we watched a short video about the capital crawl! Yesterday was the 36th anniversary. Eli helped us read more information about the Americans with Disabilities Act and the capital crawl. We talked about how when we advocate for ourselves, things really can change!

We also worked on some jobs today and had small groups! We also had a great time in the gym with volunteers from Marquette High School.

We’re getting closer to finishing our workshop with Pink Umbrella Theater Company! Today we had a practice of our piece, “We Are RAD”. We are excited to show our family and friends what we have been working on.

Today we were hard at work at some jobs around the building. We helped shred paper in the office and we also started one of our favorite jobs each here, helping stuff the Easter Eggs for the West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation & Community Services EGGED Events coming up!!

How fun! We love being able to help out our Rec Dept!

Happy small groups Monday!
Today in our small groups we did a fun m&m math activity, built different bridges out of popsicle sticks and had a science lesson.

We’re getting ready to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day this month! Today we tie dyed a lot of socks! We’ll be able to pick out a pair later this month to wear to celebrate!
