"Rest is necessary, not a liability." πŸ™ŒπŸ½

It is so easy to get caught up in the grind. Something crucial to keep in mind is that rest is actually a part of the grind. Rest and recovery are necessary parts of healing and personal maintenance too.

If you've ever been to the gym and completed a workout, then you probably know what it's like to feel sore afterwards. What did you do about it? You took a break from working out for a day or two; you rested. After you rested, you were less or no longer sore and you were able to resume working out with no problem. What happens if you workout constantly with no rest or recovery breaks? You become more susceptible to injuries!

It's the same way with our mental health. If all we do is grind with no rest in between, then we run the risk of burn out, fatigue, irritability, low functioning, etc. A lack of rest could also be a factor in triggering a depressive episode. So, don't discount rest and recovery for your mind. Taking that time will replenish you and allow you to go a lot further. Rest is NECESSARY, family. 🀞🏽✨

No matter how you say it, "No" is complete sentence, family. I know establishing new boundaries can be challenging, but this is why I always encourage a good practice. It is practice that makes progress. We're not looking for perfection. Okay? We're looking to grow! So, when you get a chance, practice holding your boundaries. Practice saying "No."

πŸ€²πŸ½β€’ Giving yourself compassionate understanding. After all, you are a person who has been hurt or is currently under a lot of stress.
πŸ€²πŸ½β€’ Giving yourself time to process the situation and how you feel.
πŸ€²πŸ½β€’ Giving yourself space to forgive (in the traditional sense) the situation for how it hurt you.
πŸ€²πŸ½β€’ Giving yourself time to feel your feelings so you will be able to comfort yourself through them. (It's pretty difficult to treat anything without acknowledging or identifying it first.)

You may not be in control of everything, but you do get to run THIS show. You get to choose how you show up for you. You have the power to love YOURSELF IN ACTION. πŸ«‚β€οΈβœ¨

When things start to feel out of hand, find your 'I can'.

Here's what I mean:

There are times when things can get really overwhelming in life. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed because you're facing something new or because the stress of daily tasks are starting to pile up... It's time to take a pause. That pause is important. (This is another way to practice your self-compassion. πŸ‘€β€οΈ)

Pause what you're doing.
Pause what you're thinking.
Pause your personal expectations for the time being.

It's now time to prioritize YOU, not your daily tasks, not what you're working on, not anyone else. JUST YOU.

1. Ask yourself: What part of me needs nurturing THEE MOST in this moment? (Is it your body, your mind, or the part of you that is grieving, feeling exhausted, frustrated, etc.?) πŸ«‚πŸ’ž
2. After you've identified which part of you could use some extra love and care: Find the first baby step to giving yourself what you need. Start from exactly where you are and go from there. That's the perfect spot. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

I believe in your ability to take GOOD CARE of yourself. You got this! Remember to honor your capacity. If on your best day you function at 100%, and lately you have been feeling more like 10%, then you need to honor your 10%! (In reality) That 10% is your new 100%. You can only give what you have, and trust... What you are bringing to the table is enough. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½βœ¨
