Caveat emptor Buyer Beware! This week we had multiple clients that completed their New York State Mandated 18 hour Concealed Carry Course from a competitor that provided the bare minimum using a Simunition pistol, in a large class at a hotel banquet room, only firing 5 rounds to pass requirements. Now due to them feeling uncomfortable handling a firearm and lack of live fire range time they contacted us for further training. Additionally during our training I reiterated the use of force justification standards in the NYS Penal Law and discovered they were instructed false information that could potentially create serious legal ramifications and being charged with felonies if they followed them. They are now taking additional private lessons being instructed on what they should have and would have been if they originally attended our course. Research your potential instructors, look for certifications and read reviews. Check us out and find out why we were voted Best of Long Island 2026.

A Second Amendment journalist is taking New Jersey officials to court after being denied access to carry permit data.

The request was for anonymized demographic info only, but it was still denied.

This case could have major implications for transparency and how permit systems are scrutinized.

Virginia is on the verge of a major shift in gun laws, and if you’re a gun owner, it’s not a small one.

Right now, 10 gun control bills are sitting on Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s desk, and she has until April 13 to sign them, veto them, or let them become law by default. Based on the current political landscape, most expect these bills to be signed.

If that happens, Virginia will go from relatively gun-friendly to one of the more restrictive states in the country.

Here’s what’s in the stack:

• Semi-auto firearm and magazine bans (SB749/HB217)
Targets many commonly owned rifles, pistols, and shotguns, bans magazines over 15 rounds, and restricts possession for adults under 21.

• Public carry restrictions (SB727/HB1524)
Criminalizes carrying many common fi****ms in public places—even for otherwise lawful gun owners. Violations can mean up to 12 months in jail.

• Under-21 possession ban (SB643/HB1525)
Would apply even to young adults who already legally own fi****ms.

• Reciprocity changes (SB115)
Virginia could stop recognizing out-of-state carry permits, which would likely trigger other states to stop recognizing Virginia permits in return.

• Expanded training mandates (HB 916)
Adds new requirements for concealed carry classes and removes NRA and USCCA courses from qualifying.

• Firearm storage and vehicle laws (SB496/HB110)
Creates new rules for how fi****ms can be stored in vehicles.

• “Ghost gun” ban (SB323/HB40)
Makes possession of unserialized fi****ms a felony—punishable by up to 10 years.

• Gun industry liability laws (SB27/HB21)
Opens the door to lawsuits against manufacturers and retailers for how products are marketed and sold.

• Expanded “gun-free zones” (SB272/HB626 & SB173/HB229)
Applies to public buildings, campuses, and certain medical facilities.

These laws target law-abiding citizens and commonly owned fi****ms, while doing little to address criminal behavior.

These aren’t small tweaks. This is a system-level change:

• Who can own fi****ms
• What types are allowed
• Where you can carry
• Whether your permit is recognized
• How the industry itself is allowed to operate

For gun owners in Virginia, the next few weeks matter.

Because once these laws are signed, the fight doesn’t end; it moves to the courts.

Now let’s get NY and other states to follow!

Now let’s get NY and other states to follow!

Florida lawmakers have passed a bill allowing volunteer armed security at places of worship without requiring a state license.

It now heads to the governor’s desk, where it’s expected to be signed.
