What NOT to say when someone is grieving:

Time heals all wounds.
Things have to go on.
You have to be strong.
They wouldn't want you to be sad.
At least they didn't suffer.
You can have other children.
Just keep yourself busy.

There is no timeline for grief. There is no rule for how soon is too soon to go through belongings or make decisions. Some people need to do things right away, while others need more time. Both are okay. Grief looks different for everyone, and the only timeline that matters is the one that feels right for you.
