As Social Work Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize the depth, dedication, and impact of this profession.

Social work is more than what people often see. It is years of education, training, supervision, and a lifelong commitment to ethical, informed care.

It is advocacy, accountability, and the ability to support individuals, families, and communities through some of life’s most complex challenges.

From clinical settings to schools, hospitals, and community spaces, social workers continue to show up, uplifting individuals, defending dignity, and working to transform systems that impact mental health and well-being.

At Iama Center, we are proud to be part of a profession rooted in care, equity, and community.

Social workers do some of the hardest work, often behind the scenes.

From unmanageable caseloads to systemic barriers, burnout, and lack of recognition, the challenges are real.

But despite these hurdles, social workers continue to advocate, heal, and strengthen communities every day.

💬 This Social Work Month, we honor the dedication, resilience, and impact of social workers everywhere.

Leadership in mental health also means challenging the systems that shape it.

This Women’s History Month, we recognize Dr. Altha J. Stewart, who made history in 2018 as the first Black president of the American Psychiatric Association.

Throughout her career, she has been a powerful advocate for underserved communities, emphasizing how poverty, discrimination, and trauma influence mental health outcomes.

Her work continues to remind the field that meaningful mental health care requires addressing both individual needs and the broader systems that impact well-being.

💬 Join us in recognizing women whose leadership continues to shape the future of mental health.

When many people hear “social worker,” they immediately think of therapy or CPS.

But the field of social work reaches far beyond these roles.

Social workers serve in many roles across communities through shaping public policy, responding to crises, developing programs, supporting workplaces, conducting research, and advocating for equitable access to care.

During Social Work Month, we’re highlighting the breadth of this profession and the many ways social workers strengthen communities every day.

💬 Which of these roles surprised you the most?

Three words that help define social work: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

Social workers…
👉🏽Uplift individuals and families during vulnerable moments
👉🏽 Defend the dignity and rights of those navigating systemic barriers,
👉🏽Transform communities through advocacy, care, and connection to resources.

During National Social Work Month, we recognize the dedication, compassion, and resilience social workers bring to the work of supporting mental health and community well-being.

As social workers, we carry a lot — often more than people realize.

During National Social Work Month, we’re recognizing both the impact of social workers and the challenges many of us face in the profession. Heavy caseloads and limited support can make an already demanding role even more difficult.

Even so, we continue to show up for individuals, families, and communities every day.

💬 If you’re a social worker, your work matters.
