This February, we recognize Momuary 💜 — a month devoted to self-care, meaningful connection, and releasing the guilt so many mothers quietly carry.
Motherhood is both beautiful and demanding.

The pressure to do it all, the constant mental load, and the guilt that can surface when rest, space, or support is needed can feel overwhelming. Too often, mothers place themselves last on their own list of priorities.

Momuary serves as a reminder that caring for yourself is not selfish — it is essential.

Momuary is an invitation to change that. Here are some tips for self care:
✨ Make a coffee date with a friend.
✨ Take 10 minutes to journal and breathe.
✨ Choose connection over isolation.
✨ Reset with love.
✨ Return to yourself.

Self-care is not selfish. It is strength. It is healing. It is necessary!

💙💚 Safer Internet Day 💙💚

The internet can be an amazing place for kids to learn and connect—but it can also expose them to risks, including online sexual predators. Parents and caregivers play a crucial role in keeping children safe online.

Here are a few ways you can help protect your child:

🔹 Talk openly with your child about online safety and body boundaries
🔹 Remind them never to share personal information, photos, or videos
🔹 Keep devices in shared spaces and know the apps and games they use
🔹 Use parental controls and privacy settings on devices and platforms
🔹 Teach them that adults should never ask kids for secrets, photos, or private chats
🔹 Let them know they can always come to you if something feels uncomfortable or wrong

Online safety starts with education, trust, and ongoing conversations. Together, we can help kids navigate the digital world safely and confidently.

HOLLY GREENE, CSAC

Holly is a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, licensed as a CSAC (clinical substance abuse counselor). She helps clients in early recovery from addiction and clients wanting to continue building coping skills to maintain sobriety. Her approach is trauma sensitive, and she uses the evidenced based treatment modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness as well as other modalities.

Holly’s Philosophy In Her Own Words:

I believe in a collaborative process starting from a place of compassion as we decide treatment needs and goals together. I work with clients to become stable in early recovery. I focus on developing actionable steps to deal with stress, triggers, cravings, and unhelpful thoughts and behaviors throughout the recovery process. I believe that it is important to treat the whole person as we develop a personal plan to build self-care habits and create a life that is meaningful and worth living in recovery.

Holly’s Experience and Education

• 9+ years of experience in addiction counseling.
• Help clients complete driver safety plans, TAD programs (treatment alternative and diversion), and Drug Treatment Court (DTC).
• Moraine Park Technical College in 2016 – associate of applied science in Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse.
• Marian University in 2023 - bachelor’s degree in psychology.
• Trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in 2025.

“My hand is at the small of your back; I may let you stumble, but I will never let you fall.” — Maya Angelou

January is Mental Wellness Month, a time to honor emotional care, healing, and the quiet strength it takes to keep going. Dr. Angelou reminds us that we are not meant to navigate life alone — that support, love, and compassion can hold us steady even when we falter.

Caring for our mental well-being is not a weakness. It is an act of courage, trust, and self-preservation.

You are allowed to stumble. You are never meant to fall alone. 🤍

MAGGIE SCHULTZ, LPC

Maggie completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2017. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UW-Whitewater as well. Additionally, she is certified through the National Board for Certified Counselors.

Maggie works with a broad range of individual clients, including children, adolescents, and adults of all ages in our Beaver Dam location. She has extensive experience working with young adults through mental health counseling and higher education services. She also has experience working with children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities in a variety of settings, and is a certified provider through Dodge County CCS. She works with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, work-related stress and work-life balance, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and trauma. Although her focus is mental health, she has also worked conjointly with clients receiving simultaneous services for substance use at Alarus.

Maggie’s approach to counseling is integrative and person-centered, meaning that she meets her clients where they are to address their individual needs. Her approach is trauma-informed and strengths-based, with a foundation of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity in the therapy process. Maggie views her clients as the experts of their lives, as she joins them to identify concerns, and goals to work toward in therapy. Counseling is a collaborative process between client and counselor, and the unique experiences, ideas, and perceptions of each client matter. Non-judgement, patience, and humor are important in her sessions. Maggie strives to ensure each person she works with feels validated and respected by providing an accepting environment. She draws on personal strengths of her clients and encourages them to utilize these qualities, resources, and skills in their lives. Maggie views her role as a counselor as an honor and privilege. She understands that the decision to seek help and pursue counseling can be difficult, and acknowledges the courage of her clients in this process.

❄️ Winter Tip from the Steve Rummler HOPE Network, Safely Store Your Naloxone ❄️

We hope everyone is staying warm! We’ve hosted two naloxone trainings in the past two months. As a friendly reminder:

As temperatures continue to drop, it's important to keep your naloxone effective and ready to use. Here’s how to safely store it during freezing weather:

👉 Ideal Temperature: Store naloxone at room temp. Short-term exposure to colder or warmer temps is okay, but try to avoid extremes.
👉 Protect from Freezing: Avoid leaving naloxone in your car or outside in freezing temps.
👉 If It Freezes: Let it thaw at room temp for 15 mins—if it's frozen in an emergency, you can place it in your underarm area or rub between your hands to thaw quickly.

Be prepared, stay safe, and always keep naloxone within reach. Saving lives starts with proper care! đź’™
