...Since 1972 Post #3
In the 1970’s, “footwear solutions” were primarily external to the shoe itself. What could you put on the outside of the shoe to redirect the foot and ankle? As the orthopedic shoe industry advanced throughout the 80s-90s it became much more about what could be done inside the shoe. Into the 2000s the entire shoe industry evolved, and most shoes now allow for internal devices to improve the functionality of the foot and ankle. Throughout it all, NPS was innovating while staying grounded in the roots of Pedorthics. Whether we were helping test innovative products for other companies or developing new products and methods of fabrication for ourselves, the patient’s needs were always at the center of our custom product line. As we sit in 2026, we offer everything from elevations on shoes to rocker sole modifications to modifying shoes to fit deformity of the feet. We offer accommodative inserts for “at risk” feet as well as semi rigid total contact orthoses and traditional functional orthoses for control and function of the foot and ankle. We also provide multiple foot and ankle braces to address more severe cases, custom molded sandals offering non-shoe alternatives and even custom molded shoes to address severe foot deformities. There really isn’t a Pedorthic product we don’t utilize or a product that we cannot fabricate on-site quickly for our patients.
