Dear Dental Family,
Hello! I am Elisa Dack and have been a Registered Dental Hygienist 21 years in this beautiful practice formerly for Dr. Jeffery Schubert, and the past 14 years for Dr. Jonathan Berns. It has been my honor to have so many wonderful clients and serve you to increase oral health and overall wellness. Our dental team is exemplary in every sense of the word, and I am forever grateful to call them family.
As many of you know, I advanced my education in 2019, and pursued my Executive Masters in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Michigan. I did so to position myself in the Public Health sector with a focus on oral health. My heart is to help increase access to care with oral health education, implementing programs in communities and working on policy and advocacy for those in need. I have been searching for the right fit for the past three years in public health or overall health management. I have recently been contacted by District Health Department #2 in our area to fill a new position as a Community Resources Manager with a focus on oral health. I am excited to say this position fits my hearts desire for what I have been preparing for in this career change. We will be creating a team to implement Oral Health Assessments for Kindergarten age children starting in January 2023 for all four counties (Ogemaw, Alcona, Iosco, and Oscoda) which District #2 encompasses, as well as helping District #4 and their four involved counties. As a community resource manager, I will be a part of our district’s leadership team to help work on multiple public health programs. I will be keeping my hygiene license active but will be putting up my instruments to move into this exciting position.
I cannot thank everyone of you enough for my years with you in practice. So many of you have been with me, my husband Chris, and our three children from pregnancy to college! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know your families thru the years, and so very touched by our shared relationships. I will deeply miss seeing your faces and caring for you. Words cannot express how much you mean to me, and I am beyond grateful.
I am excited to announce Callie Upton, RDH, formerly Callie Mayhew from Rose City, MI will be stepping into my position. Callie graduated from Delta College in 2019 and has been practicing serving the Roscommon area as well as our office on Fridays for the past year. Some of you may have already had the opportunity to meet her. She was recently married in January 2022 to Justin Upton. She loves to garden, work on house projects, spend time with her family and friends and sweet puppy time with her Golden Doodle Magnolia. She is an advocate and amazing professional for oral health and wellness and will be a wonderful addition to our dental team providing the absolute best care for all our clients.
In closing I would like to leave you with these words-
“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something…. My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.” – Jimmy Carter
Thank you all for making a difference in my life and those around you!
All My Best,
Elisa Dack, RDH, MHSA
