Parents ask me all the time: “When should I actually start worrying about my toddler’s speech?”

Here’s my honest answer ⬇️

✨ 4 major signs that it’s time to seek support:
1️⃣ Not using at least 50 words by age 2 (and not combining words by 2.5–3).
2️⃣ Rarely imitating words or sounds that you model.
3️⃣ Showing frustration when trying to communicate or not able to get needs across.
4️⃣ Not appearing to learn and use new words regularly (during the toddler years, this should be happening almost daily).

(This list isn’t exhaustive, but these four are strong indicators that it’s time to get help.)

💡 The earlier you start, the easier it is to help your child make progress. Waiting doesn’t make the problem go away—it just delays support that can make all the difference.
