I opened Nextdoor yesterday to unsubscribe.

Three minutes later, my nervous system was in full “Threat Level Midnight.”

Post after post pulled at my moral wiring—shame, injustice, teens protesting, poverty messaging. I could feel the urge building to defend, engage, educate, argue.

And then it hit me:

This is what the last several months felt like before I deleted social media from my phone.

It started as noble effort. I care deeply about justice. But somewhere along the way, engagement became nervous system self-harm.

When does speaking up help?

When does it just feed the system designed to provoke us?

I’m not advocating apathy. I’m questioning venue.

Maybe the most countercultural thing we can do is choose where our voice actually belongs.

If you’re working toward EMDR Certification and want consultation that feels clear, supportive, and grounded in real clinical work, I’m now offering individual and small-group consultation as an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training.

My approach is especially supportive for clinicians who:
• integrate somatic or mindfulness-based work
• feel unsure about pacing, sequencing, or interweaves
• want consultation that strengthens confidence without rigidity
We focus on real cases, real questions, and helping you trust your clinical judgment while staying aligned with the EMDR model.

💬 Individual & small group options

📘 EMDR BASIC TRAINING BOOK CLUB
(Yes, that book. And yes, together.)
Let’s be honest—between training weekends, clients, and life, many of us intended to read

EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures

…and then didn’t quite get there.

No shame.

And also—this book matters.

It’s the foundation for:
• Basic training
• Ethical protocol fidelity
• Consultation and certification work
• Staying aligned with how EMDR is currently defined

I’m hosting a low-cost EMDR Book Club for clinicians who want a strong, grounded relationship with the EMDR model—not just the steps, but the why underneath them.

This is for therapists who:
✔️ care about doing EMDR well
✔️ want clarity without rigidity
✔️ learn best in thoughtful, human conversation
✔️ plan to continue their professional development with integrity
✔️ just need a little accountability to finally pull the book across the finish line

We’ll read and discuss the book through the lens of real-life clinical examples—how these principles actually show up when you’re using EMDR with clients, with attention to nuance, ethics, and common stuck points.

We’ll also read with an eye toward how the model is actually applied in real clinical, consultation, and certification contexts.

No pretending you’ve already read it.

No pressure.

Just solid learning, together.
📘 Comment BOOK CLUB and I’ll DM the details.

Note: Choose between monthly meetings on Fridays at noon or Saturdays at 11am EST. Meetings start March 13/14.

15 Reasons You Need a Day-Retreat
(15 Reasons in 15 Days)

Reason 2. You crave answers—but everything feels uncertain. So you keep up the mental churn, certain the answers will come if you just keep thinking. And thinking. And thinking.

💥 The Rub: Your mind spins trying to figure it all out. Nothing is clear. So you keep up the churn, certain that you, of all people, can figure out the narrow path through the impossible. Even your conversations with loved ones reflect the internal repeat cycle (“Mom, you already asked me that!!”)

🌿 Retreat Resolution: This is where you stop the obsessive intellectual engagement and start trusting through deep listening and intuition. We’ll meet uncertainty not with control, but with courage to receive from a deeper place.

😎 Get Real: The fact is, you are brilliant. Overthinking is your default when you’re overwhelmed. You’ve met every obstacle and that brilliant brain came out with the W. That’s why you keep at it! But when things are THIS kind of uncertain, Disrupting your patterns and daily grind and inserting things that shift your nervous system DOES, however, create something real and new. Doing it in community brings co-regulation and the sense of never having to do it alone!

Sign up now for the Cincinnati or the St. Louis retreat, and receive bonus gifts of a guided meditation AND a stress management hypnosis recording to begin REAL, DEEP change before your retreat date.

15 Reasons You Need a Day-Retreat
(15 Reasons in 15 Days)

Reason 1. You’re carrying the weight of the world—alone.

💥 The Rub: You’re the one everyone leans on, but where can you turn when it’s all falling apart?

🌿 Retreat Resolution: You’ll be held by wise humans, nature, and practices that remind you: you don’t have to do this alone.

😎Let’s Get Real: The fact is, your world IS stressful, and it’s not just lip-service that will get you something new. Big shifts are happening behind the scenes—and they’re not just about time management. They’re about legacy.

At 54 (and a half), I’m clearing space to do the deep, visionary work I’m called to do. That means letting go of some things that no longer fit, restructuring my client schedule, and preparing to mentor other EMDR therapists through consultation.

This August, I’m tossing the metaphorical clutter to create space for the work that matters most. It’s not always comfortable, but it’s honest—and it’s overdue.

If you’ve been feeling like communal healing and personal growth make so much more sense than “expert/patient,” let’s talk.

What’s something your past self did—yesterday, last month, or 5 years ago—that made today a little easier?

Maybe you started therapy. Maybe you made that chore chart. Maybe you bought the good coffee. Maybe you rearranged your kitchen cabinet so packing lunches went a little faster.

Let’s give our past selves a little gratitude.

Have you ever been in a season where everything felt unsteady?

This moment in history feels like one giant disorienting dilemma—what Stephen Cope calls those life-shaking moments that ask us to reshape how we relate to the world. Whether it's the ache of old norms collapsing or the grief of watching beloved systems unravel, so many of us are holding uncertainty right now.

But what if uncertainty is a doorway to all that CAN be beautiful in the world?

In this week’s reflection, I write about chaos, spiritual steadiness, and what Viktor Frankl, Stephen Cope, and even the trees outside my window have taught me about presence in hard times.

This is also the heart of our September 27 (StL) & October 4th (Cincy) retreats, Stress and the Spirituality of Uncertainty. A space to return to your inner wisdom. Your dharma. Your roots. In a world on fire, presence is power.

What’s one hard parenting moment that eventually taught you something about caring for yourself?

Did a meltdown remind you to take breaks?
Did burnout show you the power of boundaries?

Drop a lesson you're grateful for—especially the ones that were hard-won.
