Individuals can become overwhelmed and are more likely to forget when given multiple demands or complex demands.Breaking tasks into smaller steps and giving them one at a time can improve follow through. Once your child learns that two tasks are related, you can start to chunk them. For example "put your clean clothes in your dresser" and "put your dirty clothes in your hamper" can become "put away your clothes." Small adjustments in how you give directions can lead to big changes in behavior and cooperation.
