The snow emergency in the Borough of West Chester means you can park in all of the borough parking garages at no cost. You don’t have to clean off your car after the storm and the plow trucks can better clean the streets. Win- Win!!

Please be safe in the coming hours as the roads become difficult to travel.

Mayor Lillian L. DeBaptiste has declared a snow emergency for West Chester Borough beginning Saturday, January 24th, 2026, at 6PM to Tuesday, January 27th, at 6PM.

Please be mindful of parking along snow emergency routes. Any vehicles parked in these areas will be towed at the owner's expense by West End Towing (located at 714 Downingtown Pike, phone: (610) 692-3110). View snow emergency routes by searching "Snow Emergency Routes Map" at west-chester.com

Free parking is available for affected residents at the listed garages and all Borough owned lots. Please be mindful that these lots are vulnerable to icy conditions, park at your own risk. Vehicles parked in the coned off areas of these lots will be towed at the owner's expense. Lots will be plowed after the conclusion of the storm.

Trash collection will be delayed by one day due to the impending weather. Monday, January 6th, 2026, trash collection will not take place.

The Borough's administrative offices will be closed Monday, January 26th, 2026.

Please note that residents are required to remove snow from their property's sidewalks within 24 hours of the conclusion of the storm. If you are unable to do so and require assistance, contact Building and Housing by phone at (610) 696-1773 or by email at housing@west-chester.com

Stay safe and stay warm!❄☃

Many of you have heard and been moved by Lillian DeBaptiste’s recitation of “In Flanders Field” by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae to honor our veterans. This is a beautiful display this Veterans Day in Sydney.

Red Flanders poppies are projected onto the Sydney Opera House on Remembrance Day in Sydney, Australia.

NEWS YOU CAN USE - Veterans edition

Every Veteran deserves to be honored. 🇺🇸
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has launched a new program offering free commemorative urns or plaques for Veterans who have been cremated and whose remains are not buried or placed in any cemetery.
If you were previously told a VA marker wasn't an option, this may now be the recognition your loved one deserves.
To qualify:
- The Veteran must have served on or after April 6, 1917, and received a discharge other than dishonorable.
- Their cremated remains must not be buried, placed in a columbarium, or scattered.
- You must be a family member (spouse, child, parent, or sibling) who has possession of the full remains.
📌 Please note: Once a commemorative urn or plaque is issued, the Veteran becomes ineligible for burial in a VA national cemetery or for a traditional headstone, marker, or medallion. This decision is permanent.
