NEWS YOU CAN USE - Veterans edition
Every Veteran deserves to be honored. 🇺🇸
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has launched a new program offering free commemorative urns or plaques for Veterans who have been cremated and whose remains are not buried or placed in any cemetery.
If you were previously told a VA marker wasn't an option, this may now be the recognition your loved one deserves.
To qualify:
- The Veteran must have served on or after April 6, 1917, and received a discharge other than dishonorable.
- Their cremated remains must not be buried, placed in a columbarium, or scattered.
- You must be a family member (spouse, child, parent, or sibling) who has possession of the full remains.
📌 Please note: Once a commemorative urn or plaque is issued, the Veteran becomes ineligible for burial in a VA national cemetery or for a traditional headstone, marker, or medallion. This decision is permanent.
