in-te-ri-or-i-ty: [noun] the quality of being focused on one’s inner life and character.
Hello, I'm Janet Nash. I support people into making peace with their thoughts through trauma-informed psychotherapy, meditation, and yoga. By making peace with themselves, they are positioned to live their most authentic lives.
My shared vocations of psychotherapy and yoga therapy enable me to take a broad view of healing. As such, I am dedicated to fostering opportunities of holistic wellness by offering evidence-based psychotherapy, as well as yoga therapy as an adjunct or alternative therapy, for issues such as depression, trauma, women’s issues, body dissatisfaction, and anxiety. How the mind operates, and how it can be effectively managed is central to both cognitive behavioral therapies and the yoga tradition.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is a container, the energetic space between clients and their psychotherapist, where they can begin to feel balanced, centered and safe enough to encounter change.
I grew up in the field of psychotherapy immersed in psychodynamic theory and continue to formulate my understanding of my clients’ concerns from that framework.
Currently however, my theoretical orientation, or basic guiding principles in organizing treatment, are the allied technologies of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). According to the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, “Both have been described as part of the ‘third wave’ of cognitive-behavioral therapies. This new set of therapies, committed to empirical evaluation and science, tend to differ in important ways from traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).”
My career as a psychotherapist spans over 20 years. I have worked both inpatient in psychiatric hospitals and residentials, and outpatient in group and private practice. Currently I share my time at Interiority Wellness, Grace Tree Yoga & Growth Studio, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in the Division of Psychiatry.
I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service; I have post-graduate training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy from Fordham. In addition, I was trained at the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in White Plains, New York. My Bachelors Degree is in Business Administration from Iona College.
I obtained advanced yoga teacher training and am registered with Yoga Alliance. Additionally, I've completed training in yoga therapy and am a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. My yoga therapy training was with Ganesh Mohan, MD of Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda.
I am available by appointment at Interiority Wellness, LLC (at Grace Tree Yoga & Growth Studio) on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday from 11:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. My first meeting with a potential client is a brief 0.5 hour consultation at no charge. This initial meeting is to assess whether my services align with your needs.
