Discipline is the bridge between where you are and where you want to be.

The person you are today and the person you want to become are not separated by luck, talent, or perfect timing. They are separated by the small choices you make every single day. Choosing to move your body when it would be easier to stay still. Choosing foods that fuel you. Choosing rest and recovery so your body can continue to perform.

Progress doesn’t come from occasional motivation. It comes from consistent discipline — the habits you build, the effort you show up with, and the commitment you make to your health and well-being.

Every workout, every healthy meal, every moment you choose to take care of yourself moves you one step closer to the person you want to be.

Start where you are. Stay consistent. Let discipline do the work.

That’s a wrap on the CSCAA National Invitational Championships with Grand Canyon University. Always a little bittersweet—getting to know the freshman class and then wishing the seniors the very best as they move on to their next chapter.

Every year brings new faces, new challenges, and so many great memories. This team, the student-athletes, the coaches, and one of my favorite fellow massage therapist have made such an impact on both my life and my career. I’m incredibly proud of all of you and grateful to be part of the journey.

Can’t wait to see what next season brings. See you next year.

Cupping therapy is a specialized technique that uses gentle negative pressure to lift and decompress soft tissue rather than pushing down into it. This approach helps increase localized blood flow, improve tissue mobility, and create space within tight or restricted areas of the body.

By encouraging circulation and movement within the tissues, cupping can help reduce muscle tightness, support the body’s natural healing response, and improve overall recovery. It is commonly used to address chronic tension, restricted range of motion, and areas affected by repetitive use from work, training, or daily stress.

At BodyWorx Training and Recovery, cupping therapy is often incorporated into sports and therapeutic massage sessions to help improve movement quality and support recovery. It can be especially beneficial for athletes, active individuals, and anyone dealing with persistent muscle tightness or overuse.

If you have areas that always feel tight or restricted, cupping may be a great addition to your recovery routine.

Strength Training Burns More Calories at Rest

Cardio is great for burning calories while you are doing it. But strength training has a powerful benefit that continues even after your workout is finished.

When you lift weights or perform resistance exercises, your body works harder to repair and rebuild muscle tissue. This process requires energy, which means your body continues to burn calories long after the workout ends. The more lean muscle you build, the more calories your body burns at rest throughout the day.

Strength training also helps improve metabolism, supports joint stability, and builds the strength needed for everyday movement. Whether your goal is fat loss, better performance, or overall health, adding resistance training to your routine can make a big difference.

Train smart. Recover well. Let your body keep working for you even when the workout is over.

Swimmer’s Shoulder

Swimmers place a lot of repetitive demand on the shoulders. Over time, this can create muscle imbalances in the rotator cuff and upper back that lead to tightness, reduced mobility, and discomfort during training.

Sports massage can help address these common issues by targeting overworked muscles, improving range of motion, and supporting faster recovery after workouts. By focusing on the areas that swimmers rely on most, massage can help keep the shoulders moving efficiently and reduce the stress that builds up from repetitive strokes.

If you are experiencing shoulder tightness, fatigue, or limited movement in the water, it may be time to give your body the recovery it needs.

Contact BodyWorx Training and Recovery at 352-362-7534 to book your session and keep your shoulders performing at their best.

Learn to Rest, Don’t Quit

Progress isn’t about pushing hard every single day. It’s about knowing when to work and when to recover.

Your body needs time to repair, rebuild, and recharge. When you ignore the signs of fatigue, tightness, or soreness, performance can drop and injuries become more likely. Rest isn’t weakness. It’s a necessary part of getting stronger.

Learning to rest allows your muscles to recover, your mind to reset, and your body to come back ready to perform at a higher level. Consistency over time always beats burnout.

If your body is feeling the effects of training, work, or daily stress, recovery can make all the difference.

This or That: Beach or Park Workouts?

When it comes to getting a great workout outdoors, where is your favorite spot? Do you enjoy the sound of the waves and the challenge of sand under your feet, or do you prefer the calm, green space of a park for your workout?

Both options have their benefits.

Beach workouts add natural resistance from the sand, which can challenge your balance, strength, and endurance. The open space and fresh ocean air can also make training feel refreshing and energizing.

Park workouts offer shade, solid ground for movements, and plenty of space for bodyweight exercises, stretching, walking, or running. Parks also allow for more variety with benches, paths, and open fields.

Whether you are sprinting along the shoreline or doing squats and lunges on the grass, the most important thing is getting outside and moving your body.

So what is your go-to workout spot, beach or park?

Testimony Tuesday

There is nothing more rewarding than hearing how your work truly impacts someone. Massage therapy is not just about working on muscles. It is about understanding the body, listening to what it needs, and recognizing that stress, tension, and life experiences often show up physically.

I always strive to treat the whole person, not just the tight muscle or sore spot. When a client feels both physical relief and emotional support, that is when the real healing happens.

Thank you, Jeanie, for your kind words and for trusting me with your care.

“Traci is a well rounded massage therapist. Smart enough to know what her clients physically need and compassionate enough to address their emotional needs as well.”

That tight spot you keep ignoring is not going away on its own. It is simply your body asking for a little attention.

Muscle tightness and soreness often start small. A stiff neck after a long day, a tight shoulder from stress, or a nagging spot in your lower back from repetitive movement. When we ignore these signals, the body begins to compensate. Other muscles start doing extra work, movement patterns change, and before long that small issue can turn into bigger discomfort or limited mobility.

Massage therapy helps bring circulation back to those areas, releases built-up tension, and allows the muscles to reset. Sometimes all that tight spot needs is the right pressure, the right technique, and a little focused attention.

Listening to your body early can make a big difference in how you move, feel, and recover.

If you have a spot that keeps getting your attention, it may be time to give it the care it has been asking for.

How to Stay Fit While Traveling

Travel can easily throw off your normal routine, but staying active and making a few smart choices can help you maintain your health while you are on the road.

Bodyweight workouts are one of the easiest ways to stay active while traveling. You do not need a gym to move your body. Simple exercises like squats, push-ups, lunges, planks, and stretching can be done in a hotel room, at a park, or even outside before starting your day.

Another easy habit is to walk whenever possible. Instead of relying on taxis or rideshares for short distances, explore the area on foot. Walking not only keeps you active, it also helps you experience the location in a different way.

Staying hydrated is also important while traveling. Long drives, flights, and busy schedules can make it easy to forget to drink water, but proper hydration helps maintain energy, reduces fatigue, and keeps your body functioning well.

Packing healthy snacks can make a big difference too. Having options like nuts, protein bars, fruit, or trail mix helps prevent grabbing fast food or processed snacks when hunger hits.

Travel does not have to mean abandoning your healthy habits. A little planning and intentional movement can keep you feeling strong, energized, and ready to enjoy the trip.

Your body works hard for you every single day. From the moment you wake up until you finally try to relax at night, your muscles, joints, and nervous system are constantly working to keep you moving, focused, and functioning. Whether you sit at a desk, train in the gym, work on your feet, or juggle a busy schedule, the physical and mental demands on your body add up.

Over time, that constant demand can lead to tight muscles, limited mobility, fatigue, and stress that you may not even realize you’re carrying. Taking time to let your body reset isn’t a luxury—it’s an important part of maintaining your overall health and performance.

Massage therapy helps restore balance by improving circulation, releasing muscle tension, and allowing your body to shift into a state of recovery. When your body has the opportunity to reset, it can move better, recover faster, and function the way it was designed to.

You ask a lot of your body every day. Giving it time to reset and renew is one of the best things you can do for your long-term health and well-being.

“What you want most may take time, patience, and hard work—but the reward is always greater than the struggle.”

In health, fitness, and recovery, the results people want don’t happen overnight. Building strength, improving mobility, recovering from injuries, and taking care of your body requires consistency and commitment. There will be days when it feels challenging, when progress seems slow, or when motivation is low. That’s part of the process.

The work you put into your health today determines how you move, feel, and perform tomorrow. Small, consistent efforts—whether through training, proper recovery, massage therapy, or better daily habits—add up over time.

Stay patient. Stay consistent. The results are worth it.
