Columbia Plastic Surgery announces with great sorrow the passing of our beloved John Doliver Newkirk PhD, MD on February 16, 2021. Dr. John Newkirk was born January 6, 1944 in New Brunswick, NJ. He is survived by three sons, Foster, Wesley, and Berry Newkirk, along with many close friends who were like family to him.

Dr. John Newkirk received his MD from Northwestern University in 1976 and practiced medicine for over 40 years where he specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, hiking, hunting, and exercising.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to support COVID-19 Research, c/o Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, 420 E. Superior Street, 9th Floor, Chicago, IL 60611 or feinberg.northwestern.edu/giving
