As Summer comes to an end, we love to look back at some of our wonderful Summertime events.... an evening of music at Laurel Crest! The Columbia Summer Band came out to perform and the house was packed! This amazing group is composed of volunteers who do this for the love of music!

Thanks to our amazing friend at the Nickelodeon theater, we were able to do a private showing of Wicked! What better way to have a good time in the heat? Getting out of it, and enjoying a cool movie matinee!

Here at Laurel Crest, we are so thankful to be in such close proximity to the University of South Carolina, where they host several exhibits, lectures, and fine arts programs every semester.
We took a trip to the Thomas Cooper Library to travel through the last 150 years to honor Scott Fitzgerald and his wonderful book The Great Gatsby!

We are delighted to share the news that one of our own outstanding residents has been honored by having an award named after her! The Judith C. Thompson "Nurse Accomplice" Award recognizes an individual or group who, while not a nurse, has demonstrated outstanding commitment and advocacy in support of the nursing profession in South Carolina. This award honors those who have gone above and beyond to uplift, empower, and advance the work of nurses, ensuring they have the resources, respect, and recognition they deserve. Please congratulate Judy on this important honor.

We're halfway to Christmas! How did we celebrate? We made Christmas trees out of watermelon, ornaments out of blueberries, and the tree topper out of pineapple! Karen's "tree" was voted as the best!

A trip to the aquarium of Riverbanks Zoo was the perfect way to kick off Shark Appreciation Week! Learning about the different types of sharks and seeing them up close made for an exciting morning out! 🦈
