During therapy, I meet so many people carrying heavy stories about themselves. These stories can feel discouraging and isolating. Sometimes I hear things like, “I’m a failure,” “I’ll never change,” or “This is just me.” These beliefs can feel so permanent.
But narrative therapy invites us to slow down and look at things differently. Here’s the truth: You are not the problem. The problem is the problem.
When we gently separate you from your struggle, something powerful happens. Shame starts to loosen its grip, and hope gets space to breathe. Together, we get curious about how this problem has shown up in your life, what it has been trying to say, and most importantly, those moments when you have already pushed back, even in small ways.
Those moments matter. They are not just “exceptions”; they are proof of your strength, your values, and your resilience. They deserve to be part of your story.
Treatment is not just about stopping a behavior. It’s about rebuilding your sense of self and reclaiming a life that feels true to who you are.
If you’re in a season of healing right now, I hope you remember this:
Your hardest chapter is not the whole book.
You still get to write what comes next. 💛
