My 💔 today. This part of the job NEVER gets easier. About a month ago, Steve was in class for our regular Modified class workout. He stood up, then I noticed he wasn’t there! Since we are on Zoom, it’s a requirement that the cameras are positioned for every “fighter” so I can see them no matter where they are in the room. I could see him on the floor. I called out to him. No response. I called out for his wife. She heard me, but Steve had shut the door so we wouldn’t disturb her (if you’ve been to an RSB class you know how we can take the volume up!) and on the ground, he was now blocking the door from opening. I asked his wife if she wanted me to call 9-1-1. They were there in less than 10 mins. I saw Steve at the hospital a few days after. He had been through the whole battery of tests when you hit your head. Apparently there were remnants of what doctors thought was an old bleed, but watched him the night before not seeing any new blood. I left him knowing he woukd be in PT until the end of October. I checked in on him Friday, but without any reply. Today, his daughter replied with news I just never get through the shock of hearing. Steve passed Friday night following a surgery, I hadn’t known was to occur, and never fully woke up. My heart arches today remembering this wonderful giant of a man with the biggest, most generous heart! I pray fo him to be at peace now, and for his family, knowing he leaves a void that can never be filled.
🙏❤️💪🥊 Rest peacefully Steve
