Dr. Barbara Evans at Physicians Eye Clinic provides comprehensive eye care for your entire family – including children age 4 and older! She provides eye exams for routine vision care as well as ocular medical conditions. When it comes to the eye care needs of your family, you deserve to be in expert hands! is an ophthalmologist certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a proud native of Des Moines having graduated from Hoover High School. Dr. Evans received her biology degree from Simpson College where she was class valedictorian. She is a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan having graduated from the University of Iowa medical school as well as completing her ophthalmology residency there. Dr. Evans strives to take care of her patient’s needs with compassion and a cheerful attitude. Laughter and smiles get our staff through a busy day and reassure our patients that we enjoy taking good care of them. Her practice emphasis includes primary eye care, glaucoma, diabetic eye exams, macular degeneration, cataracts and fitting of contact lenses including multifocals.

I will be retiring October 29th. I have had a wonderful career and appreciate the fact that so many people entrusted me with their eye care over the last 30 years. I love practicing ophthalmology and will miss seeing all of you!

I encourage my patients to continue their eye care with Dr. Mohamed Hassan at Physicians Eye Clinic. He grew up in the Des Moines area and completed his ophthalmology residency at Mayo Clinic. He has been performing cataract surgery for my patients at Physicians Eye Clinic for the last year and has done an excellent job. He is also an all-around nice guy with a great personality!
