Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week 🐾

This week, we're celebrating our amazing client service coordinators who keep everything running smoothly from the moment you walk through our doors. Our CSR'S are the friendly faces, calming voices, and behind-the-scenes multitaskers who help make every visit a little easier for both pets and their people.

We are so thankful for everything they do each day. ❤️

🛡️ Athlete Spotlight: The IGP Powerhouse! 🛡️

Today we’re looking at the elite world of IGP. To excel in the protection phase, these dogs need more than just drive—they need explosive power, rock-solid core stability, and incredible neck and jaw strength. This athlete’s journey with Vanguard Veterinary Rehabilitation actually began in a very different place: Post-Op TPLO recovery. After major knee surgery, the road back to a high-impact sport like IGP requires precision, patience, and expert conditioning.

We worked closely with him to regain lost muscle mass, restore his range of motion, and build the functional strength needed to handle high-speed entries and lunges safely. Today, he isn’t just "back"—he’s competing at the highest level. 🏆
We focus on building the functional muscle needed to handle those high-impact moments safely, ensuring they stay powerful and agile.

Post-spinal surgery rehabilitation in progress 🐕

Copper is demonstrating steady improvement in gait, with increased coordination and limb placement noted during underwater treadmill therapy. The buoyancy of the water allows for reduced weight-bearing while encouraging active movement, supporting neuromuscular re-education. As you can see he still has improvement to make in his gait, however with ongoing therapy and conditioning continued progress expected.

Joint injections for dogs aren't as scary as they sound.
Unlike daily pain medications that only mask symptoms, treatments like Arthramid® target the joint directly. This approach works on the synovium itself, addressing inflammation at its source rather than just managing pain.

The difference is significant. Instead of temporary relief, you're investing in your dog's long-term mobility and quality of life. Most dogs return to normal activity within a few weeks, often showing improved mobility and comfort that lasts months or even up to a year.

Your dog deserves to move freely and without pain. Sometimes that means a brief procedure for long-term relief.

🌟 Athlete Spotlight: The Unstoppable Hunting Dog! 🌟

In honor of Canine Fitness Month, we are celebrating the incredible stamina and focus of our sporting dog clients! Tani show us exactly what "Field Fit" looks like. 🌾💨

Running through thick cover, holding perfect point, and quartering a field takes more than just energy; it requires structured endurance training and targeted conditioning to keep those joints and muscles strong. Tani comes to Vanguard Veterinary Rehabilitation for their strength and conditioning work to ensure their joints and muscles stay resilient, reducing the risk of injury and maximizing their time in the field doing what they love.

Drop a 🐾 if your dog is an endurance athlete!

Slow and steady 💪🐾

This sweet pup is taking on a low-obstacle course—climbing, stepping, and even pausing to rest right on the obstacles. Every movement has a purpose. Not every step is perfect. Every pause is part of the process.
After spinal surgery, rebuilding strength isn’t about speed… it’s about patience, trust, and showing up one step at a time. Watching him listen to his body and work through each challenge is nothing short of inspiring.

Recovery isn’t linear, but progress is happening—one careful climb (and cozy rest break) at a time ❤️

Pippin is managing severe hip arthritis with TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) therapy to enhance her comfort and quality of life.

✅ What does TENS do?
TENS uses small electrical pulses through sticky pads(electrodes) placed on the skin to help:
🐶 reduce pain signals
🐾 support comfort in chronic pain case
💊Can be used alongside other pain management techniques
🩹Improve comfort during recovery

Strength doesn’t always look the way you expect it to. 🐾

This little warrior is learning to navigate the world on three legs—and absolutely crushing it. With focused physiotherapy sessions, every stretch, every balance, every tiny hop forward is a victory.

Tripod life isn’t a limitation—it’s a different kind of journey. One filled with resilience, courage, and a whole lot of heart. 💛

Keep checking back to see this brave kitty putting in the work, building strength, and proving that nothing can slow down a determined soul.

Weekend Warrior Warning: Is Your Dog Ready? 🐾
We love Saturday hikes, but if your dog is mostly inactive during the week, jumping into intense activity can cause injuries.

What is a "Weekend Warrior"? A dog who’s sedentary during the week but does intense activity on weekends. Just like we shouldn’t run a half-marathon without training, our dogs’ bodies need conditioning.

Risks:
-Strain on tendons, ligaments (ACL/CCL tears)
-Heart stress, especially in seniors or flat-faced breeds
-Paw pad injuries from rough terrain

Stay Safe:
-Follow the 10% Rule: Increase activity gradually each week
-Do weekday micro-workouts to build muscle
-Warm up & cool down with slow walks before and after hikes

Keep your pup fit and safe! 🐕💨
