❄️ Brr! The thermometer is dropping, but we’re staying cozy!
👋Hello, friends and neighbors!
With the forecast officially hitting single digits this week, we wanted to send a warm reminder from the Independent Nursing Care team. Extreme cold can be tough on everyone, but it requires a little extra caution for our seniors and those with health sensitivities.
Here are a few "Nurse-Approved" tips to handle the big freeze:
🧥Layer Like a Pro: If you must go out, remember the 3-layer rule: a base layer to keep dry, a middle layer for warmth, and a water/wind-proof outer layer.
🔥Space Heater Safety: We love toasty toes, but please keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from curtains, blankets, and furniture.
🚰Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: We often forget to drink water when it isn’t hot outside! The dry winter air dehydrates you quickly, so keep that water bottle handy (or a warm cup of herbal tea!).
🥿The "Slipper Check": Cold floors mean extra socks, but wool socks on hardwood floors can be a slip hazard. Make sure your loved ones have non-slip footwear on.
❤️ The Neighbor Knock:
If you know an elderly neighbor living alone, please give them a quick knock or a call today just to make sure their heat is working and they have what they need. A friendly "hello" warms the heart faster than a radiator!
Stay safe, stay warm, and remember: we are just a phone call away if you need support!
Warmly,
The Independent Nursing Care Team
