Independent Nursing Care LLC "Completing your circle of care"
At home, at work, and while away Independent Nursing Care, LLC was established in March, 1988.

In the beginning, Registered Nurses served as independent practitioners, working directly for their patients. Founders Mark and Julie Gemerek realized that their patients and clients could enjoy better overall health with additional services, so in 1995, we were licensed by the New York State Department of Health to provide a wide variety of health care services to families, companies, senior centers and individuals throughout New York State. Our mission and purpose is to complete your circle of care by promoting, maintaining and restoring overall good health, and well-being for the entire community- at home, at work and away.

Why Buffalo is the Dyngus Day Capital 🇵🇱

While today is celebrated in Polish-American hubs like Chicago and Cleveland, nowhere does it quite like Western New York. For us, Dyngus Day isn't just a holiday, it’s a massive community tradition that dates back to the 1870s right here in the Historic Polonia District.

What started centuries ago as a rite of spring (and a nod to the 966 AD baptism of Prince Mieszko I) has evolved into a local phenomenon. From the p***y willow "battles" to the parade that draws tens of thousands, it’s the day Buffalo truly shows its heritage.

At Independent Nursing Care, we love being part of a region that holds onto its roots so strongly. Whether you're heading to the Broadway Market or just enjoying some homemade pierogi with family, we hope you have a fantastic day!

A Fantastic Dyngus Day! 🥟🎻

🍔 BIG NEWS: We’re Expanding Our Definition of Care! 🩺

At Independent Nursing Care, our mission has always been to provide the highest quality, most personalized home care possible. We pride ourselves on attention to detail, customized health plans, and a compassionate bedside manner.

🤔But recently, we asked ourselves: Why should our personalized touch stop at healthcare? We believe that nourishing the soul is just as important as healing the body. That is why we are thrilled to announce our brand-new venture: Independent Care Burgers.

🌱Starting this spring, we are bringing our world-class nursing standards to the fast-food industry, opening premier burger spots at select locations across the area. We noticed a severe lack of bedside manner at the drive-thru, and we are here to fix it.

What to expect at our new locations:

📈The Vital Signs Combo: A gourmet quarter-pounder cooked to your exact dietary chart, accompanied by a side of perfectly portioned, low-sodium fries.

💊Custom-Compounded Secret Sauce: Administered via sterile, food-safe syringe directly onto your bun for optimal flavor distribution.

🩺Drive-Thru Wellness Checks: Our highly trained staff will happily take your blood pressure and check your temperature while you wait for your milkshake.

🧼Impeccable Hygiene: Let’s face it, no one washes their hands better than a nursing team.

Good health is all about balance, and sometimes balance means a really phenomenal burger handed to you by a professional in premium medical scrubs.

No one tells you that the hardest part of growing up is watching your parents grow older.

There is a very specific kind of exhaustion that comes from navigating care for an aging family member. It isn’t just the physical tasks; it’s the "invisible load", the constant mental loop of worrying about safety, managing appointments, and wondering if you’re making the right choices.

If you spent this week balancing your own life, your career, and your kids while also being the primary support for Mom or Dad, take a breath. You are doing a hard thing, and you are doing a good job. It is okay to be tired, and it is more than okay to ask for help.

Tag a fellow caregiver in the comments who needs to hear this today. 💙

If the weight of that invisible load is becoming too much to carry alone, let’s talk. At Independent Nursing Care, we’ve built our reputation on providing the highest standard of professional support, because your family deserves nothing less than the best.

"I can’t stop while there are lives to be saved."

In 1914, Edith Cavell was a British nurse running a nursing school in German-occupied Brussels. She didn’t just treat the wounded; she became a key figure in the underground resistance. Cavell hid Allied soldiers in her hospital and helped over 200 of them escape to neutral territory, often right under the noses of the occupying forces.

When she was eventually caught and sentenced to death, her final words focused on her principles rather than her fate: "Patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone."

She was a nurse who prioritized human life over borders and politics, even when it cost her everything. That is the definition of grit.

Spring cleaning isn't just for your closet! 🧹

Now is the perfect time to go through your medicine cabinet. Check those expiration dates on over-the-counter meds and prescriptions alike. If it’s expired, it’s time to safely dispose of it. Keeping your supplies up-to-date is a simple way to stay prepared for whatever the season brings.

Have you started your spring cleaning yet, or are you waiting for the weather to stay warm for good? 🌷

Happy National Immune System Day and the surprisingly real National Wash Your Nose Day! While it sounds a bit funny, your nasal passages are your immune system’s first line of defense against the outside world. 🦠

Every day your nose filters out thousands of tiny particles like dust, pollen, and bacteria before they can ever reach your lungs. Think of it like the air filter in your car or furnace. If the filter gets too "clogged" or dry, your immune system has to work twice as hard to keep you healthy. 💨

The Nursing Tip: This is why "nasal hygiene" is a real thing in healthcare. Using a simple saline spray or even just staying hydrated keeps those filters working perfectly. It is a small step that can prevent those nagging spring colds and keep your immune system from getting overwhelmed. 🩺

Since it is also National Nutrition Month, remember that your "filters" need internal support too. Foods high in Vitamin C and Zinc like citrus and pumpkin seeds help your body repair those barriers so you stay protected all season long. 🍊

Did you know that out of over 3,500 Medal of Honor recipients, only one of them has been a woman? 🏅✨

As we continue Women's History Month, we want to introduce you to Dr. Mary Edwards Walker. She was a surgeon during the Civil War who refused to let the era's limitations stop her from saving lives. 👩‍⚕️🏥

Mary did not just stay in the hospitals. She frequently crossed battle lines to treat civilians and wounded soldiers on both sides. She was eventually captured by Confederate forces and spent four months as a prisoner of war. ⚔️🔗

Even after her release, she never stopped advocating for healthcare and women's rights. She famously wore "men’s" clothing because she believed it was more practical and sanitary for medical work. She was a true pioneer of independent care. 👢🧥

At Independent Nursing Care, we are inspired by that kind of relentless dedication. It reminds us that providing great care often means thinking outside the box and standing your ground. 🛡️🩺

They called her "The Ice Woman" and she is the reason your groceries are safe to eat today. ❄️🛒

As we celebrate Women's History Month and National Nutrition Month, we have to talk about Dr. Mary Engle Pennington. 👩‍🔬🍎

In the early 1900s, food safety was a disaster. People were constantly getting sick from spoiled milk and meat because there was no reliable way to keep things cold during transport. Mary changed everything. 🥛🥩

The Grit: Despite being told that industrial work was no place for a woman, Mary spent her career climbing into refrigerated train cars and slaughterhouses to inspect conditions. She did not just study chemistry. She engineered the first standards for the "cold chain." This is the system that keeps your food fresh from the farm to your fridge. 🚂🏢

The Takeaway: Nutrition is not just about what you eat. It is about how that food is protected. At Independent Nursing Care, we know that safety and health are inseparable. 🛡️🩺

Today’s Challenge: Check your fridge temperature! It should be at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit to keep your food fresh and your family safe. 🌡️🏠

What is the one thing in your fridge that you always make sure you have in stock? Let us know below! 👇

You received your very first "report card" exactly 60 seconds after you were born. 👶📈

If you’ve ever heard of an Apgar Score, you have Dr. Virginia Apgar to thank. As we continue Women’s History Month, we have to talk about this legend.

In 1952, the medical world didn't have a standardized way to check if a newborn was actually doing okay. Dr. Apgar, one of the few female board-certified anesthesiologists at the time, changed that on the back of a hospital cafeteria napkin.

🦸The Legend: Virginia was known for being "ready for anything." She famously carried a pocketknife and a piece of tubing in her purse at all times, just in case she needed to perform an emergency tracheotomy in the street. 🔪👜

Do you know your Apgar score? Or your kids'? Drop a ❤️ if you’re thankful for the innovators who look out for us from minute one!
