Independent Nursing Care LLC

Independent Nursing Care LLC "Completing your circle of care"
At home, at work, and while away Independent Nursing Care, LLC was established in March, 1988.

In the beginning, Registered Nurses served as independent practitioners, working directly for their patients. Founders Mark and Julie Gemerek realized that their patients and clients could enjoy better overall health with additional services, so in 1995, we were licensed by the New York State Department of Health to provide a wide variety of health care services to families, companies, senior centers and individuals throughout New York State. Our mission and purpose is to complete your circle of care by promoting, maintaining and restoring overall good health, and well-being for the entire community- at home, at work and away.

❄️ Snow Has Arrived: Winter Prep Checklist 🌨️

The quiet magic of the first true snowfall is here, transforming the landscape into a beautiful snowy scene. This beautiful pause is also a clear signal: deep winter is coming!🐺

Time to secure the warmth and safety of our homes and vehicles. A little preparation now goes a long way.

🏡 Essential Winter Tips

* Pipes and Hoses: Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses. Cover or insulate exterior faucets to prevent freezing and costly bursts.

* Heating System: Change the furnace filter and test the heating now. Ensure systems are running efficiently before the coldest temperatures hit.

* Draft Proofing: Seal cracks around windows and doors. Stop energy loss and maximize coziness with simple weather stripping.

* Supplies: Stock up on salt or pet-safe ice melt. Have shovels and snow removal equipment ready and accessible.

🚗 Vehicle Readiness

* Battery and Tires: Check tire tread and pressure. Have the car battery tested—cold weather is notoriously hard on them.

* Emergency Kit: Keep a reliable roadside emergency kit in the trunk, including warm blankets, jumper cables, and a flashlight.

* Fluids: Ensure all vital fluids, especially antifreeze and windshield washer fluid, are topped off.

⏰ Daylight Saving Time Side Effects & How to Adjust!
Heads up! While "falling back" gives us an extra hour of sleep, the abrupt change in light exposure can still throw off your body's internal clock (circadian rhythm).
Side Effects to Watch For:

* "Mini Jet Lag": Fatigue, grogginess, or difficulty focusing.

* Mood Changes: Earlier darkness can affect your mood (less serotonin) and lead to feeling a bit sluggish or low.

* Sleep Disruption: Even with an extra hour, some people have trouble adjusting to the new wake-up/bedtime, leading to temporary sleep troubles.
Simple Tips to Smooth the Transition:

* ☀️ Seek Morning Light: Get outside or sit by a bright window first thing. Sunlight is key to resetting your body clock.

* 😴 Stick to Your Schedule: Maintain your normal wake-up and bedtime (by the new clock) as much as possible.

* 📱 Limit Evening Screens: Blue light before bed interferes with sleep hormone production. Power down earlier than usual!

Be patient with your body—it usually adjusts in a few days! Drive safe in the earlier darkness!

🧠 Protect Your Brain: It's World Stroke Day! 🧠

Today, October 29th, is World Stroke Day. We're raising awareness not just about the signs of stroke, but how you can reduce your personal risk!
Did you know that up to 90% of strokes are linked to risk factors you can control? Taking charge of your health is the best way to protect your brain.
Key Lifestyle Factors to Manage for Stroke Prevention:

* Monitor Your Blood Pressure: This is the single greatest risk factor for stroke. Check it regularly and work with your doctor to keep it in a healthy range.

* Get Moving: Regular physical activity helps manage weight, blood pressure, and overall heart health. Aim for consistent movement!

* Eat Smart: Fuel your body and brain with a balanced diet. Focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and limit highly processed foods.

* Stop Smoking: If you smoke, quitting is one of the most powerful changes you can make to lower your risk.
Small, consistent choices can make a massive difference in preventing a stroke. Take a moment today to commit to a healthier lifestyle!
