I created Meditative Solutions: Determined to Change for one simple reason. My challenge now is to tear down the taboos and misinformation about meditation in order to convince all of you, the non-participators and the skeptics, that meditation, mindfulness especially, is one of our greatest tools to navigating our own minds, and thus our lives. This page is about coming to terms with a difficult truth for many westerners to believe. You can make any life palatable with a meditation practice. Even if you are at the top of the social and financial superstructure, or grinding out a below middle-class lifestyle, or slowly suffocating under the blight of addiction, you can find a way to continue on by first using this gateway placebo: mindfulness meditation. Health is the other reason I started this page. My health was deteriorating too early in life. Mentally defeated, metabolic diseases were popping up, and physically breaking down. Gut, back, and psychologically all mixed up were all pathologies pressing me daily. Relationships were suffering, creative endeavors were fleeting. I just wanted out. Not suicidal, per se, I just didn't mind the thought of vanishing into history. That's when I went for help in the form of cognitive behavioral therapy. Fortunately, I found a therapist who started with some mindfulness practices under the guise of Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy. Then he showed me “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn. I was off to the races and feeling better about my life day to day. This trend continues with my continued mindfulness practice. Contained in the entries of these pages with be words and methods I think will allow my readers to imagine how they could apply a mindfulness meditation practice in their own lives, and concerning the stresses in their lives. Together, with your comprehension and my willingness to teach, we can all live our lives more wholly, benefiting all those we may influence and interact with and ourselves.
