Nicole is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) specializing in family dynamics, trauma, and identity (sexuality and gender – LGBTQ+). Nicole works with individuals, couples, co-parents, and families in empowering them to reach their goals, create change, and successfully navigate their relationships. She has spent the last several years working with adolescents and families to reduce high-risk behaviors and improve relationships across settings. Nicole treats trauma, depression and anxiety in order to decrease high-risk behaviors such as self-injury, eating disorders, substance use, oppositional behaviors, bullying, and truancy. In addition to her experience working with adolescents Nicole has worked with couples and families to address different dynamics influenced by stress or trauma, communication, intimacy issues, boundary setting, and co-parenting issues. Nicole’s practice is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)-informed and she is trained in Trauma-Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) to best support her clients in coping with trauma, depression, and anxiety. Nicole uses DBT in order to build mindfulness, interpersonal relationships, stress management/regulation skills, and build self-esteem. In addition to her experiences with DBT, she focuses on using body positivity and addressing body shaming thoughts and cultural narratives of beauty in order to build positive thinking and self-worth. Nicole has worked with people within the LGBTQ+ community in a variety of settings both therapeutically and within the community. She has supported people in exploration of identities, navigation of relationships (including family), and empowering people towards self-acceptance. Nicole graduated from the University of Connecticut with both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Nicole has been trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support those she works with. In addition to her education, she has provided psycho-education to other mental health professionals in managing and preventing crisis as well as the intersection between trauma, gender, sexuality, and identity. Beginning the journey to healing and recovery can be difficult. I hope that I can be a support to you through this journey and that we can work together towards your goals to empower you to create change.

Our Story

I am licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) specializing in family dynamics, trauma, and identity (sexuality and gender – LGBTQ+). I work within a group practice known as Life Coaching and Therapy, LLC (aka The S*x Doctor, LLC). I work with individuals, couples, co-parents, and families in empowering them to reach their goals, create change, and successfully navigate their relationships. I have spent the last several years working with adolescents and families to reduce high-risk behaviors and improve relationships across settings. I treat trauma, depression and anxiety in order to decrease high-risk behaviors such as self-injury, eating disorders, substance use, oppositional behaviors, bullying, and truancy. In addition to my experience working with adolescents I have worked with couples and families to address different dynamics influenced by stress or trauma, communication, intimacy issues, boundary setting, and co-parenting issues. I am trained in a variety of therapy’s including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) to best support my clients in coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, and other struggles they may be facing. These varying models help us to collaborate together to build mindfulness, stronger relationships with self and others, emotion management, build empowerment (reduce shame) around people’s beliefs around themselves, and work towards healing in whatever way that looks like for who I am working with.

In addition to my focus on trauma and relationships, I also specialize in gender, sexuality, ad identity. I have worked with people within the LGBTQ+ community in a variety of settings. I have supported people in exploration of identities, navigation of relationships (including family), and empowering people towards self-acceptance and self-love. I utilize an intersectional approach to address each person’s multiple identities whether they are in the LGBTQ+ community or not. I believe in creating an inclusive, intersectional, identity affirming space for healing and therapy. I graduated from the University of Connecticut with both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support those I works with. In addition to my education, I have provided psycho-education to other mental health professionals in managing and preventing crisis as well as the intersection between trauma, gender, sexuality, and identity. Beginning the journey to healing and recovery can be difficult. I hope that I can be a support to you through this journey and that we can work together towards your goals to empower you to create change.
