To Our West Hartford Pediatrics Families:

Hoping that this note finds you all enjoying these first days of summer, we offer our heartfelt congratulations to all of our families and to their children who have celebrated a recent graduation! The pride and excitement will be cherished forever.

As you know, next few days will bring severe heat to our area. Infants and young children are especially vulnerable to the heat, with greater risk for dehydration. We urge all families to stay indoors with air conditioning and to avoid the heat of the day. Taking your baby out for a stroll should be done early in the morning. Is important that the baby be in the shade and that you are able to see the baby and the baby should be able to see you; this will ensure that the baby will remain ventilated and able to enjoy your company.

If you are going to take your child to a pool, please maintain devoted attention and surveillance at all times – – practicing “contact supervision” meaning that you were always close enough to touch your child.
