There are two types of toothpaste: CHEMICAL and NATURAL. Which one do you use?

11/14/2025

I used to think I just had “bad breath days.” Turns out, it wasn’t me it was my toothpaste.

Big toothpaste brands are designed to feel like they’re helping achieve a clean mouth and good breath that burning, foaming sensation with an extreme mint taste. I used to think that meant “clean” but now I know it’s actually doing the opposite.

Those chemicals were actually stripping away the skin inside of my mouth (that burning sensation) and killing the good bacteria that actually protect us, leaving the odor-causing bacteria to take over, especially when the mouth dries out.

Here’s what I started looking for on labels:
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or its derivatives: harsh detergents dries out the mouth and damages the oral mucosa.
2) Alcohol based flavoring oils like menthol: feels “fresh” but actually dehydrates.

3) Artificial sweeteners like sorbitol and sucralose: mask odor temporarily and actually feed the odor-causing bacteria that produce sulfur gases.

When I switched to a toothpaste without those ingredients, the breath comments stopped.

(the same as my non-Hollywood patients). The goal is optimal heath, a gorgeous smile, nice breath, no cancer, a comfortable jaw and bite, the best sleep, and knowing it’s all going to hold up for your long and beautiful life.

1. Use a thread-based floss, not a chemical Teflon one.

2. Switch to a natural toothpaste and ditch the old chemical stuff you’ve been using for 20 years.

3. Skip the mouthwash that messes with your good bacteria.

4. Avoid mouth breathing—it dries out your mouth and causes bad breath. Proper breathing impacts everything—even your skin and for the guys your ability to get an er****on.

5. And finally, consider supplements to support both your oral health and overall well-being.

Comment if you want to know the specific brands I’m currently using and green light.

Food brands have become masters at disguising sugar. Always be reading food labels: multiple sweeteners, tiny serving sizes, and “natural” or “sugar-free” labels disguise what’s really inside.

1)Multiple sugars trick.
Splitting sugar sources so none appear first on a label. If “sugar” is listed first, you will immediately know the product is loaded with it. When they’re lower on the ingredient list, it’s easy to overlook, plus they use different less identifiable versions of sugar.

2) Serving size manipulation.
Shrinking the serving size to make you think there’s less sugar in the product.

3) “No added sugars” loophole.
Labels can legally say “no added sugar” when sweetened with fruit juice concentrate, purees, or maltodextrin (all behave just like sugar in the body).

4) “Sugar-Free” illusion.
Some sugar alcohols like maltitol and sorbitol or refined starches like maltodextrin still trigger insulin and feed cavity-causing bacteria.

5) “Natural” sugar disguise.
Honey, agave, and maple. Correct, not refined sugar, but your body and teeth don’t know the difference. “Natural” and “organic” may still mean loaded with sugar.

1) Ultra-processed oral care ingredients
-even “natural” toothpaste brands are selling to big corporations and secretly adding irritating synthetic foaming agents, microplastics, and flavoring chemicals.

2) Amalgam “silver” fillings
-toxic “mercury vapors” are released every time you chew when these fillings are in your mouth: “brain fog,” tremors, anxiety, hormone imbalances.

3) Undiagnosed Sleep disorders
-the data is screaming in our faces. Dentists, experts of the mouth, are at ground zero to find these issues and many don’t know how or make the effort. Narrow smiles, small mouths, snoring, teeth grinding, tight bites, deviated septum = hormone imbalances, erectile dysfunction, weight gain, mood swings, memory issues, heart attacks.

4) Bleeding gums means inflammation in your entire body.
-inflammation is fuel for diseases. We avoid one of the easiest and cheapest ways to lower inflammation in the body and that’s flossing.

5) Fluoride
-it’s not instantly toxic at low levels, but the push to place it in drinking water was as much about politics and industry as it was about health. Fluoride is an industrial waste product with a colorful history where studies in toxicity were hidden by government. Yes it can make teeth harder, but at what cost? Natural options exist.

Composite bonding and Composite Veneers (also called dental bonding or cosmetic bonding) is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment, a quick way to enhance your smile more affordable than Porcelain Veneers. I use a tooth-colored resin to reshape, brighten, or close small gaps all in one visit. It’s perfect if you want natural results without committing to porcelain veneers.

Slide 1: 36 year old female: didn’t know bonding could look better than what she had.
Slide 2: 8 year old male: bullied at school.
Slide 3: 24 year old female: first paycheck out of college to replace her very old bonding.

We transformed this smile with a full set of upper veneers, adding lip support and choosing a natural shade that blends with the patient’s tooth color. Instead of the previous bulky look, we designed a more aesthetic, thinner shape with added length, creating a harmonious, effortless smile that feels as good as it looks.
