An unfortunate event took place this past Wednesday at my office in West Islip, Long Island. A fire broke out at 4 am. Although it was a tragedy, the silver lining was that no one was hurt and the damage could have been much worse.
Despite the fact that it was very early in the morning I witnessed numerous firefighters responding in minutes and expeditiously eliminating the fire. These men are truly dedicated in their efforts to make our town as safe as possible. They put their own lives at risk to save others and their property..
My staff and I want to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the volunteer firefighters of West Islip.
We also want to wish them and their families a Happy and Healthy New Year!
During this holiday season we ask everyone to remember these volunteers and the selfless work that they do. Please make your contribution to the West Islip fire department. It is reassuring to know that if and when you need them they will be there!
