Your core training programs should have different bracing strategies present, and they depend on the type of exercise in question. 👇

On one hand, when you're lifting huge weights on a squat or deadlift, you want to get your air and brace firmly in a high threshold strategy - and then reset your breath between reps.

On the other hand, during an exercise like a prone bridge, chop/lift, or something else, you need to breathe throughout the set while maintaining that bracing strategy.

When you take a high threshold strategy to what should be a low threshold exercise, you create unnecessary rigidity. However, if you bring a low threshold strategy to what should be a high threshold exercise, you become extra susceptible to injury.

Keep in mind that what highly trained individuals might consider "light" tasks can often be challenges requiring a high threshold strategy in those who are untrained or suffering from back pain. Getting out of bed pain-free might actually need to be a high threshold strategy for some people until their symptoms have resolved and they've built enough fitness to handle it with lower threshold core engagement.

There may also be times when you being a high threshold strategy to what is normally a low threshold movement to create a transient ROM change based on relative stiffness. An example would be a high tension side bridge to increase hip internal rotation.💪
