Viviana Guzman, our HHS Educator in LaGrange County, recently led an engaging and interactive presentation at yesterday’s CARET Conference called “Vaping: Small Devices, Big Impacts”, focused on the serious health risks associated with va**ng. This program is offered through Purdue Extension.

Participants learned how va**ng impacts the body, gained insight into the marketing tactics used by v**e companies, and were encouraged to make informed decisions about their health.

Everyone left with a stronger understanding of the long-term dangers of v**e use, and a reminder of how important our community partners are in supporting this work.🤝🏼✨

Great job Vivi! 👏🏼🌟

This Thanksgiving, remember—it’s more than just a meal! 🦃🍂

At Purdue Extension, we’re passionate about helping families strengthen their connections through shared mealtimes. Just as brings people together to express gratitude and share food, making family meals a regular routine can improve:

💛 Emotional well-being
🏡 Family connection
📚 Academic success
🥗 Healthier eating habits and weight

Families who eat together tend to be happier, more connected, and healthier—plus, children develop stronger social and vocabulary skills.

So, as you gather for turkey, pumpkin pie, and time with loved ones, remember that every shared meal helps build memories, foster empathy, and nurture the bonds that make families thrive.

For ideas and tools to make family mealtimes more meaningful, explore The Family Dinner Project and Purdue Extension’s Building Strong Families Together resource.

Making time for family meals is well worth the effort. Turn off the TV, phones, etc., and start a conversation. Scheduling can be tricky, but think ahead—and get the kids involved in meal planning and preparation. Family meals provide many benefits,

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S.—but prevention is possible. 🩺

’s Be Heart Smart program empowers adults to identify their risk factors and take simple steps toward better health. Last year, 308 participants learned practical ways to manage stress, stay active, and eat for a healthy heart. After the program, over 200 participants planned to increase physical activity, eat more heart-healthy meals, and use stress-reduction techniques. 🚴‍♀️🥕🧘‍♀️

Together, we’re building stronger, healthier communities—one heart at a time. ❤️ 💛🖤
