Misconceptions about developmental disabilities are more common than many people realize. 💜

During Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, it is important to move beyond myths and focus on understanding. When we understand the realities of developmental disabilities, we create more inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities.

Developmental disabilities are lifelong, but individuals continue to grow, learn, and build meaningful lives with the right support. Every person has unique strengths, goals, and experiences. Support is not about changing who someone is. It is about building communication, independence, confidence, and opportunity.

Awareness is the first step.
Understanding helps create inclusion. ♾️

Inclusion isn’t just about being present. It’s about being supported. 💜

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month reminds us that true inclusion means meaningful participation at every stage of life — from early childhood through adulthood.

Support should grow with the individual and inclusion should look different because every person is different.

This month, we celebrate individuals with developmental disabilities and reaffirm our commitment to lifelong, compassionate, evidence-based support.

Because real inclusion means opportunity — at every age. 💫

Understanding challenging behavior in schools starts with understanding function.

Our newest blog breaks down Skill Based Treatment (SBT) in schools and what families and educators need to know. From teaching students how to ask appropriately and tolerate “no,” to building safe, classroom-ready skills, SBT focuses on meaningful, functional progress.

If you’ve heard about SBT and are wondering how it works in real school settings, how it supports collaboration, and whether it’s effective, this blog walks you through it clearly and practically.

Read the full blog and learn how structured, skill-focused intervention can support safer, more successful classrooms.

Donna’s GBS Journey 💙✨

After meeting Cara on a case and reaching out when she was ready for more, the rest truly is history. Over the years, Donna has had the privilege of staying with families long term, including one for 10 years. Watching clients grow through different stages of life and seeing skills carry over into real world moments is what it’s all about.

One standout moment? Supporting a once shy client who confidently handled a televised interview when her team made it to the national championship. Seeing hard earned skills show up in a high pressure setting was unforgettable.

Donna continues to grow alongside her clients, recently stepping into DDD Behaviorist work and embracing the personal growth that comes with becoming a mom. She says the greatest reinforcer is hearing how our services improve families’ quality of life, and we couldn’t agree more 💚

We’re so grateful to have you, Donna!
