I originally made them just for myself, but then decided I'd share.😆

⚠️I needed a shirt that came with warning label because I'm my sons #1 fan and Im going to get LOUD when it comes to cheering him on! So don't sit near me if you can't handle the heat 🔥

I got a call today asking for some more of my “Pain Away the Natural Way” and honestly… it filled my heart.

Making and sharing herbal medicine brings me so much joy. Watching it actually work for people who are hurting, who are tired of feeling uncomfortable, who are looking for a gentler way… that’s the real reward.

🌱 Chickw**d is everywhere right now! 🌱

If you’ve been outside lately, you’ve probably seen chickw**d popping up all over your yard and garden.

What many people don’t realize is that this little “w**d” is actually a powerful medicinal plant that’s been used for centuries in herbal medicine.

Chickw**d is known for its soothing and cooling properties. It’s commonly used to help with skin issues like rashes, eczema, insect bites, burns, and irritation. Taken internally (when properly identified and prepared), it’s also known to support digestion, reduce inflammation, and gently nourish the body with vitamins and minerals like vitamin C, iron, and magnesium.

Right now is the perfect time to harvest it — it grows best in cooler weather and is super abundant in early spring. You can use it fresh in salves, teas, infused oils, or even toss young leaves into salads.

⚠️ Important note: Be careful when foraging not to confuse chickw**d with mouse w**d (also called mouse-ear chickw**d). While they look similar, true chickw**d has a single line of tiny hairs running down the stem and small white star-shaped flowers. Mouse w**d is much hairier all over and doesn’t have the same medicinal benefits.

As always, never consume a plant unless you are 100% sure of your identification. When in doubt, leave it out 🌿

With limited power and resources, staying warm and healthy comes down to layers, warm meals, hydration, movement, and rest.

Slow down, bundle up, nourish your body, and take care of each other. Sometimes resilience looks like soup on the stove, extra blankets, and a calm nervous system.

As the cold is upon us here in the south remember, It’s actually not the cold that makes our kids sick — it’s how fast we warm their bodies back up.

When they come in from the cold, a slow warm up (dry clothes, a cozy blanket, warm drink) is much gentler on the body than jumping straight into a hot bath or hot shower. Rapid temperature changes can stress the body and cause the immune system to overreact, which is often what makes symptoms show up.

Letting kids go outside bundled up, get fresh air, move their bodies, and play is actually GOOD for their immune system.

Sunlight, movement, and cold exposure (within reason) help build resilience — it doesn’t make them sick.

So don’t fear the cold weather!

❄️Winter can sometimes bring a heaviness with it. It’s a natural response, and there are gentle ways to support both mental and emotional health during this season.

Simple habits can make a big difference: getting outside during daylight hours, keeping a regular sleep routine, nourishing your body with warm, wholesome foods, and moving your body—even lightly—can help boost mood. Staying connected with others and creating cozy, calming routines also supports emotional well-being.

Certain herbs and essential oils are often used for seasonal support.

🌸Essential oils like Joy, sweet orange, lemon, bergamot, lavender, and frankincense are known for their uplifting or calming properties and can be diffused, inhaled, or used in diluted blends.

🌿Herbs such as ashwagandha (for stress support), lemon balm (for calming the nervous system), St. John’s wort (traditionally used for mood—use with caution and guidance), and chamomile can also be helpful when used appropriately.
