It can also support the implementation of essential safety measures, such as fencing, door alarms, visual cues, and a coordinated school-wide response plan.

Movement Is Regulation, Not Misbehavior

💡 Autistic individuals often use movement — fidgeting, pacing, rocking, or bouncing — to self-regulate, focus, or reduce overwhelm. Instead of stopping the movement, ask: “What need is this meeting?”

Reframe the behavior:
✔️ Rocking = grounding
✔️ Pacing = processing
✔️ Fidgeting = focus aid
✔️ Stimming = communication

Educators & Providers: Build movement-friendly environments.
👪 Families: Embrace stimming at home without shame.
🧠 Autistic Individuals: You don’t need to “mask” to be accepted.
