RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group provider, Christian Hinrichs, MD, Medical Oncology, and a part of Rutgers Cancer Institute (RCI), New Jersey’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, recently presented findings from a clinical trial he led in which innovative “T cell” therapy led to long-term remission, and in some cases complete tumor regression, in patients with advanced HPV-related cancers, such as cervical cancer. In other words, Dr. Hinrichs unleashed the power of patients’ own immune cells to seek out, recognize, and destroy their cancer.
