Can ketones support the brain in Alzheimer’s? 🧠💭
A 90-day clinical trial in adults with mild–moderate Alzheimer’s tested a compound called AC-1202 (a high-C8 MCT oil).
Ketone levels increased — and cognitive test scores improved at day 45 and day 90, especially in participants who were more consistent with dosing.
But here’s the twist 👇
Improvements were seen mainly in people without a gene variant called APOE4.
Those with APOE4 did not show the same benefit.
In other words, genes matter when it comes to fuel.
Not all tests improved, but the ADAS-Cog — the most sensitive cognitive assessment used — showed the most significant change.
Side note: like many MCT-based products, some participants experienced GI symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea, or nausea. Tolerability can vary.
👉 Curious about your APOE4 status?
At Palm Beach Functional Health, we can help you order a simple mouth-swab test for APOE4,
or arrange a comprehensive 3×4 genetic panel that looks at how your genes influence metabolism, inflammation, detox pathways, and brain aging — helping us create a personalized brain-health strategy.
