Started the 2nd Annual Little Legs Big Heart Skeletal Dysplasia Conference weekend with a great dinner at Dr. Feldman’s house—good food, good company, and even better discussions about complex cases and patient care.

Always a fun way to kick off an inspiring weekend with this community, and great to catch up with Colleen and Dr. Jeff Campbell from my fellowship year!

Amazing time at the 2nd Annual The Little Legs Big Heart Foundation (LLBH) Skeletal Dysplasia Conference last weekend—a community built to support kids and families living with skeletal dysplasia through education, advocacy, and shared experience.

Loved connecting with families and having great discussions with fellow surgeons and providers from around the country who care deeply about this community.

Huge thanks to Kristen for putting together such an amazing event!

Halloween in the Bone Zone! 🦴 Our clinic team brought their A-game this year — coaches, players, and even a basketball.

Couldn’t ask for a better crew to keep things fun on and off the court.

Some of the best moments are unplanned—they just happen.

A challenging case came up, and a few of us—Drs. Feldman, Asadi, and Raffa—were all nearby. What started as a quick look at imaging turned into a great discussion and learning opportunity for us all from a variety of perspectives.

That’s one of the things I love most about working with the right people, collaboration and growth happen and make us all better.

Spent Saturday at the Little People of America (LPA) meeting connecting with patients and taking part in meaningful discussions on orthopedic and spine care. Always valuable to connect with this community and discuss current approaches in orthopedic and spine care!

Emma was just 9 when she came to us with a severe congenital kyphosis measuring 130 degrees, making it difficult to stand upright and walk.

After three months in halo traction and a complex spinal reconstruction, she’s now standing tall — and recently took the stage at the Little Smiles fundraiser, surrounded by Osiris (NP), Kaile Jo (Child Life), and Emilee (RN), 3 members of the incredible team who supported her every step of the way.

Little Smiles is an organization that brings joy to children in hospitals through small acts of kindness, celebrations, and events that remind them they’re more than their diagnosis.

Seeing Emma on that stage, confident and full of energy, was a pretty powerful reminder of this. Watching her live so fully after everything she’s been through is the real win!

Ellie is a 10-year-old with early-onset scoliosis. In the past, braces were thought to only stop curves from getting worse, but with modern designs, early intervention, and consistent wear, we’re now seeing real improvement in some patients, even after the brace is removed.

Ellie’s progress is a great reminder that commitment to treatment pays off. Her story encourages other kids and families to stay consistent, even when bracing feels challenging.

Cast is off, fracture all fixed, and that finger dexterity is already back!

After a fracture, it’s always great to see movement and function returning so quickly.

Logan is a 4 year old boy who came to us last year with both hips dislocated which had gone undiagnosed. Most people think of hip problems as something you’re born with, but they can show up later too.

The signs aren’t always obvious — sometimes it’s a limp, trouble keeping up with other kids, or one leg looking shorter than the other. If left untreated, it can cause pain and serious problems with walking as kids grow.

Surgery brought both of Logan’s hips back into place from completely dislocated to stable and aligned. A year later, he’s running, climbing, and thriving.

The lesson: if your child has a limp or seems “off” with how they move, it’s worth getting checked. Early recognition and treatment can make all the difference.
