Clear communication and thoughtful care matter, especially when it comes to spine surgery. We’re grateful to patients who trust our team and take the time to share their experience.

Spine surgery takes more than one approach. David S. Feldman, MD, evaluates the orthopedic structure, while I focus on the neurological elements that affect pain and function. Together, we make decisions that support recovery well beyond the OR.

We review CT and MRI imaging in detail to provide clear, thorough second opinions. Every case is different, so I take the time to build a treatment plan that’s specific to each patient and focused on meaningful recovery.

Every step in surgery starts with preparation—and finishes with purpose.
Ultrasonic tools help me operate with precision through smaller incisions, but it’s the planning, the pacing, and the patient-first mindset that truly shape the outcome.

Before entering the OR, we take the time to review the plan together. It’s about aligning on the approach, using the most advanced techniques, and staying focused on what matters most: the patient.

We approach complex spine cases with clarity and respect for what each specialty brings. In the OR with David S. Feldman, MD, every decision is shaped by experience, but guided by what’s right for the patient in front of us.

What we do in the OR is built on more than skill; it’s built on planning, data, and trust. With ultrasonic technology and a shared philosophy of preservation over disruption, every move is made with the patient’s long-term function in mind.

Dr. Scott Raffa, MD MBA

I am a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon at Memorial Neuroscience Institute where I treat patients with various neurological disorders of the brain and spine, with a focus on complex spinal pathologies. Disorders treated include neck and back pain, sciatica/pinched nerves, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spine trauma, spinal deformity and more. I specialize in a variety of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including lateral retroperitoneal and endoscopic approaches to the spinal column. I also treat various cranial disorders such as primary and metastatic brain tumors, subdural and epidural hematomas, intracerebral hemorrhages, skull fractures, Chiari malformations, and vascular malformations, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve entrapment and more. I am continually drawn to the field of neurosurgery by its individualized approach to patient care. I always appreciate working closely with patients and their families, knowing that any day could improve someone’s quality of life. For me, patients should come to expect an honest, transparent, and friendly conversation that yields an individualized and tailored care plan, consistent with Memorial’s overall goals and values. In addition to providing patient care, I also hold an MBA degree from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business and have professional interests in health administration, practice management and intraoperative efficiencies.
