Medicine is the balance between understanding the science and understanding the person in front of you.

It’s not just about diagnosing and treating, but about listening, guiding, and helping patients move forward with clarity and confidence.

Precision in the operating room starts long before the procedure begins. Careful planning, imaging review, and a clear surgical approach all work together to ensure that each step is deliberate, controlled, and aligned with the patient’s specific condition.

In the OR, the focus is not just on addressing the issue, but on doing so in a way that preserves surrounding structures and supports long-term function.

Reviewing scans helps turn uncertainty into understanding. I take the time to explain what we’re seeing and how it relates to a patient’s symptoms, so we can make informed decisions about the next steps. cantorspinecenter.com.

Spine surgery requires a careful balance of technique and decision-making. By incorporating ultrasonic technology and minimally invasive methods, I’m able to focus on relieving pressure while preserving strength, stability, and movement.

Every consultation begins by understanding how a patient’s symptoms affect their daily life. Through a detailed examination of nerve and muscle function, I work to identify what’s truly causing the problem so we can talk through both surgical and non-surgical options and develop the right plan moving forward.

Take the next step toward understanding your symptoms. Schedule a consultation at cantorspinecenter.com/contact-cantor-spine-center.

When Dr. Hariharan and I operate together, we tackle complex spine issues from multiple angles. His deep understanding of musculoskeletal alignment and my focus on nerve function help shape a plan that aims for meaningful relief and lasting function.

Dr. Scott Raffa, MD MBA

I am a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon at Memorial Neuroscience Institute where I treat patients with various neurological disorders of the brain and spine, with a focus on complex spinal pathologies. Disorders treated include neck and back pain, sciatica/pinched nerves, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spine trauma, spinal deformity and more. I specialize in a variety of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including lateral retroperitoneal and endoscopic approaches to the spinal column. I also treat various cranial disorders such as primary and metastatic brain tumors, subdural and epidural hematomas, intracerebral hemorrhages, skull fractures, Chiari malformations, and vascular malformations, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve entrapment and more. I am continually drawn to the field of neurosurgery by its individualized approach to patient care. I always appreciate working closely with patients and their families, knowing that any day could improve someone’s quality of life. For me, patients should come to expect an honest, transparent, and friendly conversation that yields an individualized and tailored care plan, consistent with Memorial’s overall goals and values. In addition to providing patient care, I also hold an MBA degree from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business and have professional interests in health administration, practice management and intraoperative efficiencies.
