💙 Step 2: Create your carousel. Begin with the intro slide: “One Day, I Will…” Then add 5 slides featuring the future-focused affirmations, paired with photos and/or videos that reflect each affirmation. Close with a final slide sharing what you’re looking toward.
💙 Step 3: Amplify your voice. Share your carousel on social, tag , and use to be part of the Day of Recovery movement.

Eating disorders can affect anyone—but they’re too often misunderstood, oversimplified, or erased in media.

We are so grateful to the team behind The Pitt () for the care, accuracy, and humanity they brought to last week’s episode. By portraying a Black woman with bulimia nervosa, they not only captured the complexity and treatability of these illnesses—but also challenged the harmful stereotypes about “who” develops an eating disorder. That kind of representation can be truly life-saving.

Stories like this matter. They remind us that eating disorders are serious mental health conditions, deserving of empathy, understanding, and proper care—without judgment or assumptions about appearance.

In partnership with , we’re holding space for an important conversation. Trauma can be a contributing factor to the development of an eating disorder. Behaviors like restriction, bingeing, or purging can serve as survival strategies — not failures or choices.

Healing starts with understanding. Trauma-informed care prioritizes pacing, safety, and compassion over blame.

This Black History Month, , , and are partnering to highlight an often-overlooked truth: eating disorders impact people of all races — but access to diagnosis, treatment, and support is not equal.

Up to 26% of people with eating disorders in the U.S. are BIPOC, yet they are far less likely to be diagnosed or receive care. Healing must be inclusive. Support must be accessible. And conversations like these matter.

Swipe to learn more, and join us for our free, weekly BIPOC pro-recovery support group, plus a special session during NOT ONE MORE Weekend Day of Support.

Boundaries are a form of self-care.

In collaboration with , we’re sharing 10 reminders for holding boundaries that protect your mental health, time, and energy. You don’t need to over-explain, apologize, or earn rest — honoring your limits is self-considerate and necessary.

Save this for the moments you need permission to put yourself first. 🤍

We're thrilled to partner with .ed.project today to talk about how living in a diet culture world can sometimes make recovery feel extra challenging. Diet culture values thinness over health, normalizes restriction, and often equates your worth with your body size. Protect your mental health by curating your feeds, practicing self-compassion, challenging “shoulds,” and remembering that recovery isn’t linear.

Demi Lovato’s new song “Sorry To Myself” is about facing one’s own mistakes, learning to forgive yourself, and embracing hope and self-acceptance after periods of self-criticism—while acknowledging how difficult that process can be.💛

Thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring us to keep going.

The Alliance

The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and activities aimed at outreach, education, early intervention, and advocacy for all eating disorders.

Founded in October 2000, The Alliance has worked tirelessly to raise awareness; eliminate secrecy and stigma; promote access to care; and support those susceptible to, currently struggling with, and recovered from eating disorders. We create a bridge for those needing and seeking help by connecting people with resources to assist them in recovery.

The Alliance offers comprehensive services, including: educational presentations to schools, healthcare providers, hospitals, treatment centers, and community agencies; free, clinician-led weekly support groups for those struggling and for their loved ones; support and referrals through both our free help-line and comprehensive referral website, www.findEDhelp.com; and advocacy for eating disorders and mental health legislation. In August 2017, The Alliance opened Psychological Services, which offers direct, low-cost, life-saving treatment to underinsured and uninsured adults in our community.

Since its inception, The Alliance has offered presentations on eating disorders, positive body image, and self-esteem to more than 300,000 individuals nationwide. Over the past 18 years, we have demonstrated our tireless commitment to making a positive impact on our community.
