Howell County WIC and Breastfeeding Support

Our employee spotlight is shining on our WIC Nutritionist and Breastfeeding Coordinator, April Bridges. April has been on staff with HCHC for 12 years. Most of her days are filled with certifications and mid-certs, assessing growth and diets, providing nutrition and breastfeeding education, and guiding parents to set a nutrition or health goal for their littles. WIC not only provides nutrition education and healthy food but also referrals to area resources. Info gathered at these visits helps families make connections to things that will help them thrive.

April says she loves to watch families grow, from brand new pregnancies to the mom of 5. It's good to be a part of helping them make the best decisions for their family. April spends a lot of time talking about feeding babies and toddlers, but says sometimes being a listening ear to those who just need to talk to another adult is fulfilling. April goes on to say that WIC is an amazing program, and she loves being part of something so impactful!

April is a true asset to HCHD!

Employee Spotlight:

Hello everyone! I am Cailynne Henry, RN, the WIC Nurse Educator for the Howell County Health Department. I joined the department part-time in 2024 and spend my days with local mothers, infants, and children. I provide assessments, nutrition education, and support through the WIC program. As a mother myself, it is an honor to serve the community and provide resources to local families, as well as a blessing to see all the little ones! When not at work, I work alongside my husband and daughters, operating a dairy and beef farm. We stay busy with everyday chores, including tending to the cows and raising crops.

Cailynne is a great co-worker and we are proud to have her as part of the team here at HCHD.

🎃👻 Things are about to get BOOTIFUL in the Ozarks! 👻🎃

Our CBS team will be out and about at several fun-filled Halloween events in Willow Springs and West Plains — ready to bring smiles, games, and goodies for the whole family! 🧡

✨ First up: Join us THIS Saturday, October 11th, from 2–4 PM at Head Start for Awareness Day in West Plains! We’ll be there with fun games, prizes, and resources for parents to share. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet some of our CBS team and join in celebrating all of the amazing projects and missions from Head Start!

We love being part of these local celebrations and can’t wait to see all the creative costumes, happy faces, and spooky fun. Come say hi, snap a picture with us, and enjoy a fang-tastic time! 🕸️🕷️

✨ Catch us at some spooktacular events for Halloween, where we will join WIC and Parents as Teachers at the Trike or Treat in West Plains on October 30th; and a community party in Willow Springs on October 31st at the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce Trunk or Treat!
