Today we celebrated National Cookie Day with the 2nd graders from West Point Public Schools – Nebraska! They stopped by with cookies and milk and read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie — a perfect choice for the day. 🍪🐭

The kitchen provided the milk, and some of our Villa residents — many of them retired teachers and truly the best “grandparents” in town — joined in to read with the kids. 📚💛

On a day cold enough to make a snowman shiver, this visit was the heartwarming moment we all needed. And let’s be honest… cookies help too! 😄🍪

For the Final Weekend of St. Joseph's Treasures Thrift Shoppe Christmas Sale! 🎄 It was The Villa Residentss turn to decorated cookies for shoppers… and luckily, the West Point Public Schools - Nebraska JAG students came to the rescue to help! 🍪🎨

On Wednesday, the Villa residents visited Native 32 Native 32 Winery LLC for lunch and a wine flight. They sampled all seven of their delicious wines and enjoyed perfect pairings of meats, cheeses, grapes, and the most amazing chocolate chip brownie—generously provided by Patti Howser and our wonderful kitchen staff.

A huge thank-you to Kim Dorenman and Native 32 Winery for the incredible hospitality, the education on the winemaking process, and the complimentary wine glass each resident got to take home as a reminder of an amazing afternoon! 🍷✨

And of course… a few residents left with a couple of bottles—because nothing says “Merry Christmas” like great wine! 🎄🍷

Last week at The Retirement Community, we had two big events!

First, we welcomed Billy Troy with the Merrymakers—and of course, the house was packed. He even knew the late, great Johnny and June Cash, y’all! Our residents loved every minute of his performance.

We also got to decorate cookies for the first weekend of The Thrift Shoppe Open House! Nothing brings people together quite like frosting, sprinkles, and a whole lot of creativity.

What a fun week! 🎶🍪✨

We had such a fun day yesterday! It was National Take a Hike Day, so Kelly, Alice, and Jackie from our Mission Team put together a scavenger hunt throughout the facility. It was the perfect break from the daily routine—plus, there were prizes, so everyone got very competitive very fast.

Great job, guys! 👏

We also got a new toy… and naturally, Tyler Toline raced over to be one of the first to “test it out for safety.” 😉 (Don’t worry—we have photographic evidence.) And judging by the look on Tyler’s face, Christmas might have come early this year!

This morning we took a group to visit Carmen Belina’s longhorn cows just outside of Howells—and let us tell you, those cows know how to make an entrance. We got so close we were basically on a first-name basis.

Carmen and her helper (a.k.a. her adorable daughter and future cow-whisperer) gave us a crash course in Longhorn 101.

And the homemade cookies? Absolutely top-tier. Quite possibly the real reason none of us wanted to leave.

Thank you so much, Carmen—both the cows and the cookies were unforgettable!

Tuesday was Veterans Day, and of course we had to honor our brave vets.
Whitney Rief put on a wonderful Veterans Day program to celebrate the veterans who have passed over the past year, as well as the courageous veterans we are proud to serve today.

We’ve attached just a few photos from the program. We were honored to present each veteran with a certificate of appreciation and a gift generously donated by the local Department of Veterans Affairs.

Thank you, veterans — we are grateful for your service, and we hope you had a blessed day. 🇺🇸
