Today, the John A. Stahl Public Library had the honor of hosting West Point resident Judith Klute Johnson for a heartfelt book-signing event celebrating the life and poetry of her beloved mother, Joy Bailey Klute.
This recently-published book follows Joy’s journey from her early years in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Hampton, where she moved in 1947 to marry Herbert Klute, a widower with four young children. Joy and Herb became parents of five more children, of whom Johnson is the oldest. Joy lived at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community for several years in the early 1990s. She died in 1996 at the age of 79.
Johnson, a retired Lutheran pastor and former college administrator, states, “I hope readers will find the book to be humorous and heartwarming, and that they will be inspired by Mom’s life.”
