The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner's role at Perspective Counseling Services, PLLC is to provide care in an environment that fully supports the patient's efforts to be well. Filling this role requires the Nurse Practitioner to work closely with all health care providers to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for our patients.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently complete patient assessments, identify diagnoses, and provide treatment and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and substance related health conditions.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's needs. Subsequently interprets the results from these tests to make diagnoses.
Consult with physician regarding abnormal test results and provide feedback to patients.
Provide education regarding illness and prognosis to patients and provide related education to the patient to help the individual meet their care goals.
Complete full and appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record.
Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and psychotropic medications or otherwise recommend pharmacological or non-pharmacological treatments to manage wellness.
Educate and counsel patients regarding medication compliance.
Work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide the best care for patients needing both medical and behavioral health services.
Conduct patient follow-up visits regarding patients' progress with medication and/or treatment and to monitor the effectiveness of interventions. Make adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
Evaluate lab results and provide consultation regarding abnormal results.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The Nurse Practitioner must have prior experience that demonstrates their ability to:
Current state NP licensure in Mississippi that is in good standing
Experience in OBOT, behavioral health, primary care, or community health preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Current DEA X number.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Nurse Practitioner occasionally handles sealed, enclosed urine samples while wearing personal protective equipment.
