Lifeline of Berks County seeks to be an expression of Christ's love and healing in its community. The board and staff are inter-denominational, united in the belief that all human life is a sacred, God-given gift from the moment of conception. Lifeline is a not-for-profit organization committed to serving the needs of women, families, and children, born and unborn. It upholds the dignity of all women by offering free and confidential services. It supports women in their pregnancies and will never recommend abortion, nor will it refer or help a woman to procure an abortion. Lifeline will offer unconditional and non-judgmental support to any woman faced with a problem pregnancy, regardless of race, income, color, or creed. Lifeline staff and volunteers will encourage spiritual growth for women who express interest, yet it will never use a woman’s untimely pregnancy to evangelize a particular faith. Lifeline will promote abstinence among unmarried women seeking its services, illustrating its desire to support women in making choices which are most beneficial to their physical, emotional and spiritual health. Lifeline will not condone the use of artificial contraceptives among clients, and will inform applicable clients of the potentially abortifacient nature of some contraceptive methods. Lifeline will make available, to clients interested in spacing childbirth through the most healthy means, information on Natural Family Planning. Lifeline will present adoption as a positive alternative to pregnant women in difficult circumstances, and will refer only to licensed adoption agencies. Lifeline will not lobby or make political statements on the issue of abortion. All information obtained by Lifeline is held in strict confidence.
