Lindsay Marie Topper

Lindsay Marie Topper, 34, of Charles Town, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on February 1, 2026, after a difficult battle with cancer. She fought a courageous and challenging battle.

Lindsay was born in Reading, PA, on July 5, 1991, the daughter of Kathleen (McNellis)Topper, Shillington, PA and Louis Topper, West Reading, PA.

Lindsay graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 2009, spending much of her time as a cross country and track athlete. Lindsay attended Lock Haven University, continuing her running career during those years. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Education in 2013.

Lindsay met her husband, TJ Atlee, in 2015. Lindsay and TJ met while both working at Millbrook HS, Wi******er, VA. They have been married for the past 5 years. They reside with their dogs, Zoey and Sirius, in Charles Town, WV.

Lindsay taught High School math for seven years, last teaching at Potomac Falls High School, Loudoun County, VA. She changed careers in 2020, when she found a job more in line with what she wanted at NVR, Inc as a Materials Purchaser in Thurmont, MD.

Though her time with us was short, Lindsay filled every moment with laughter, warmth, and an endless love for life. She had a gift for finding joy in the simple things, whether belting out her favorite songs at karaoke nights, dancing to songs in the kitchen, sharing laughs at her favorite wineries and breweries, or catching up on the latest teen dramas she could never quite stop watching. Her playlists, like her spirit, were full of life and emotion, and no one who heard her sing could forget the happiness in her voice. Lindsay’s smile could light up a room instantly.

She enjoyed her long walks and being active, especially when shared with her loved ones. Her “Twilight group” was more than just friends, it was a circle of friendship that brought her silly jokes, deep conversations, and endless inside references that will continue to make her friends smile for years to come.

More than anything, Lindsay adored her family and friends. She was the one who could turn ordinary moments into memories, always suggesting a get-together, always the one making everyone feel seen and loved. Her kindness, humor, empathy and effortless ability to make others feel good will never be forgotten.

Lindsay is also survived by her sister, Jessica Clouser (Derek), her brother, Ryan Topper (Gabrielle), her sister-in-law, Megan Ragano (Cami), and her nieces and nephew, Hope, Reagan, Max, Blair and Clara. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Beverly McNellis and her paternal grandmother, Lynda Butt. She is predeceased by her maternal grandfather, John McNellis, and paternal grandfather, Robert Topper.

One of Lindsay’s greatest loves the past 14 years has been the role of aunt Linny. She adored her nieces and nephew, spending as much time with them as possible. She loved to attend their sports and activities, as well as hangout with them playing games, watching movies and having sleepovers.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11AM at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading. Family and friends will be received from 9:30AM-11AM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Lindsay’s memory with a donation to the Melanoma Research Foundation or the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is honored to serve Lindsay's family. Condolences may be written online at KuhnFuneralHomes.com.

Richard L. “Dick” Young, of Reading, passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born on August 19, 1934, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Richard was the son of the late Edward E. and Betty Mae (Fasnacht) Young. Young, husband of Terry, of Aberdeen, NC; Pamela A. Skrocki, wife of Kevin, of West Lawn; and Gregory E. Young, husband of Maria, of Reading.

Richard will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family, his sense of humor, creativity, and unwavering optimism. They fondly remember growing up listening to the Beatles and Pink Floyd, summers swimming at Ken-Grill pool, drinking “Bug Juice” and “Grasshopper Spit,” being woken in the middle of the night to watch meteor showers and doing homework at Angelica Dam. Richard was the go-to resource for help with math or physics and proudly inspired a new generation of engineers in his family.

Gianfranco Toso

Gianfranco Toso, 93, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the Reading Hospital. Born in Pordenone, Italy, he was the son of the late Bruno and Vittorina Toso. He attended Medical School at the University of Bologna (1950-1956) and then earned his Doctor of Dentistry at the same institution in honor of his father's profession. During medical school he had a foreign roommate (Vito) from the United States who returned home afterward.

Two years after graduation, he received a letter from St. Francis Hospital in Trenton, NJ inviting him to apply for an intern position. Vito had recommended him to the staff there. Speaking almost no English, he took a leap of faith and started an American medical career that would span 60 years. Following his surgical training, Gianfranco then completed an Otolaryngology residency at Newark Eye & Ear Infirmary. Towards the end of his time there he drove to Reading, PA on recommendation of the nuns from St. Franics and walked into the Reading Hospital to ask if they needed an Otolaryngologist. He was interviewed that day and hired quickly. During the 1960's he would work at both the Reading Hospital and St. Joseph's Medical Center.

Dr. Toso opened his first practice site on N. 5th St. in Reading in 1964, later merging with Dr. David Cope to form the Toso-Cope ENT Clinic in 1969. It was this same year that he met a delightful nurse, Kathleen Fosnocht, whom he would marry on August 1, 1970, spending over 55 years together.

The practice later moved to the Reading Hospital's Doctor's Office Building in West Reading and became the Berks Ears, Nose, & Throat Surgical Associates in 1972. During his career, Dr. Toso served as the Chair of Otolaryngology at the Reading hospital from 1973-1996. Under his direction, in 1986 the Reading Hospital was the first location in Pennsylvania to successfully implant a cochlear implant

He was a longstanding member of the Berks County Medical Society. Gianfranco was a student of history and a polyglot speaking four languages. He enjoyed horseback riding, running, skiing, and traveling with his wife.

Gianfranco is survived by his widow, Kathleen, five children: Cathy Toso; John Toso (Cindy); Susan Lipson (Jeff); Jennifer Focht (Brian); and Marc Toso (Katey Blumenthal), grandchildren, Isabella Toso, Sofia Toso, Dominic Toso, Sienna Lipson, Annie Focht, and Brady Focht.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 6, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading. The viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private.
