Danielle Smith, LMHC

Danielle Smith, LMHC MH counseling from a DBT/trauma lens. Helping you overcome barriers to your life worth living.

Asking for help is the single greatest display of both vulnerability and strength. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe, inclusive environment where individuals can foster the innovation, creativity, and strength that result from such an admirable display. I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to guide my individuals (13+) and families along their journey towards their goals. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress, personality disorders, mood disorders, and life adjustments. I am trained in multiple evidenced based modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Whatever barriers are getting in the way of your life worth living, whatever that may look like for you, I am here to provide you guidance and support in navigating and overcoming those roadblocks within a safe space. This space is yours to innovate, to create, to change – free of judgment, full of unconditional guidance and acceptance.

I wouldn't be a DBT therapist if I didn't wholeheartedly believe that everything is happening as it should. I had a plan to launch a blog in a very specific way. And then...everything happened as it should.

Happy , world. Take a moment to take care of yourselves & take care of those around you. Mental health IS health.

I wouldn't be a DBT therapist if I didn't wholeheartedly believe that everything happens as it should. Making this post isn't how I envisioned me launching my blog. Truth be told, I actually have a post that I started last week sitting in my drafts, 75% finished. That was the post I envisioned launc...

I have several openings and am now able to accept multiple insurances including Aetna, BCBS of Massachusetts, Cigna, Oscar Health, Oxford, and United Healthcare. I work with adolescents 13+ and primarily focus on borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, and trauma (acute, chronic, and complex). If you know of anyone looking for services, please feel free to share 🙂

I strive to guide my clients along their journey towards self-awareness, peace, authenticity, resiliency, and (inner) knowledge. Through the process of having taken this journey myself, I connect with my clients on a deeply personal level, bringing what I can only hope is received as a supportive an...

Grounding is one of the FIRST things I usually teach all of my clients! Engaging ourselves in the present moment alleviates symptoms of anxiety, panic attacks, and can help distract from rumination. Like any other skill, it takes practice - and practicing when you’re not stuck or not in the heat of an anxiety attack will help you build the neural pathways in your brain needed to help you recall the skill again when you ARE in a state of distress…so practice, practice, practice!

Fifteen skills to better manage stress.
