Hey everyone, Dr. Dan here! With this warm weather, tick season is already in full swing in Adams County. Because of our high deer population, we see much higher Lyme disease rates than most of the tri-state area.

With warmer weather coming to Adams County, those pesky mosquitoes are waking up. Did you know just one bite from an infected mosquito can transmit heartworm to your pet? It’s a serious condition, but the good news is that it’s completely preventable!

Heartworm larvae are passed to your pet when a mosquito bites, eventually affecting the heart and lungs. Prevention is key, and it’s best to start early before the mosquito population really takes off. Whether you have a dog or a cat, keeping them protected is essential for their health.
